Is This a Reasonable and Cost-Friendly Android TV Stick to Buy?

So, I repaired my old Aldi Medion 31.5" TV (model # MD30612 )..

therefore there is an extra TV in the house. Thinking of putting it in the spare room and using it just for movies. There is no antennae or internet connection in the room.

However the TV's playback capability is limited to only a few formats.

Hence I am looking for an inexpensive option for playing movies from my 2tb portable HDD .

searching through aliexpress I found this android stick for US$24.75 delivered.

I have a spare microsoft 800 keyboard & mouse to hook up to it.

Would this android stick be the simplest and/or most cost effective way of making my TV play all movie formats?

thanks

  • for a little bit more I'd probably get one with a s805 chip.

  • I had that same Medion TV and the same issue, ALDI happily refunded it 12 months after the date of purchase.

Does the extra TV take HDMI? If so I would just purchase a Chromecast, connect the HDD to your computer and use Plex.

Those Android TV sticks work alrightish, though the Chromecast would offer you a far better user experience for around the same price.
