Black & Decker 1250W Rotary Hammer Drill (COTD - $71.99 + Shipping)

30

I was looking for a decent corded hammer drill.

This B&D looks pretty solid.
Is $119, but then 40% ($47.99) discount.
But not in shipping cap.
Shipping to perth is 26.70. so most i guess should get cheaper.
Costs about $164 on ebay.. so still a good $65discount! or about 30%?

I think COTD have stuffed up here, there doesn't appear to be anything "pneumatic" about this drill. Pneumatic means "uses compressed air", and AFAICT, this is an ELECTRIC drill.

I found the user manual online, and there are no mentions of the word "pneumatic" nor "air" in the manual:

OP, I recommend you take the word "pneumatic" out of the title. It's just as good a bargain without that word, in fact it would be more accurate to describe it as a "rotary hammer drill", as that's a well-known phrase.

      this is an ELECTRIC drill.

That uses 'PNEUMATICS' to drive the motor…

      • Your link doesn't have this drill anywhere in it, and the descriptions there don't explain the "PNEUMATICS' either.

I'm glad you put 'PNEUMATICS' in inverted commas. I suspect the only pneumatics near this device is the hand-waving of the marketing people.

If it isn't air-powered (and it isn't, it's electric) then the other use of pneumatics is to SOFTEN shocks. Hardly what you want for a hammer drill.

        • The electricity in this drill powers the built in compressor

  • Agreed above. Would be referred to as a Rotary Hammer Drill similar to this one: http://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-850w-rotary-hammer-drill-ki…

Although a bit more grunt than the Ozito…

This does look like a pneumatic hammer drill. The description on the site says it is pneumatic and also this looks very similar to my pneumatic hammer drill and also has the same selections of hammer/chiseling and drilling. with the front cylinder area and the large body.

So yeah, this is a pneumatic hammer drill.
