  • Just got another 3. Thanks OP!

  • can this be left outdoors? or will it crack after a period?

    • +2

says UV resistant, so should be OK.

      • Yea, that's why i asked. Haha, wasn't sure what UV resistant meant. Thanks!

        • +1

it may not last but is better than if it doesn't mention UV resistance - UV (ultra violet) is what wrecks the plastic.

hey, in a years time buy another $5 box.

  • we got some 53 litre ones from Kmart a few weeks back for $7, these masters ones seem better.

  • +3

Can confirm after 3 years in a roof space hot/ cold/ hot / cold these are still as good as new…..bargain

  • These have been on the masters website for QLD stores at this price since (at least) last Saturday, because i went to buy a few, but there was no stock on display. Couldn't even find a price tag and empty shelf. Hoping they are there tomorrow.

    • Click and collect?

      • So click and collect infers the stock won't be on display? Your probably right but i would have thought at these warehouse type stores they'd just pull stock from the warehouse floor.

        • +1

Just helps give you an idea that the stock is available. Yes it takes them some time to get the stock for you, but at least if you order tonight, you can guarantee its waiting for you in the morning :)

And also with 5% discount, or 2% cashback, its cheaper to pre-buy online than buy it off the shelf :)

Have Bunnings released their Friday night match?

The Patio Heater is the Friday special

It's going to be very cold the next few days, not sure a Patio Heater is going to make much difference….

Try to take it into the footy jv and put it beside you :)

          @Spackbace:

Try to take it into the footy jv and put it beside you :)

Good idea… I'll check the MCG website to see if Patio Heaters are banned. I don't recall ever reading that they are…

      • The match has been posted.

        • +1

They always match with a slightly smaller or inferior product

        • @HunterOfBargains20: why do you say the bunnings one is inferior? I am thinking to get a patio heater but not sure which one to get

        • @IMBI3:
Just comparing the size and heat output the Masters one is slightly bigger.

        • @HunterOfBargains20: Bunnings' clothesline was arguably better.

    • +1

      That's what I'm waiting for.

  • The only shock you will get is the delivery fee :p

I bought similar (or possibly the same) tubs from Masters a few years ago. The edges were sharp and the sides were brittle so they can't be carried when loaded. The rollers were useless too. They might be okay for long-term storage but they broke quickly when used often.

Starmaid was the gold standard for these tubs but it appears the quality has deteriorated since they went into administration. Icon Plastics from Bunnings seem to be the best quality tubs available these days http://www.bunnings.com.au/icon-44l-clear-storage-container-…

    • +1

Don't think these are the same then. I have one next to me right now about 6 months old that stores all my PC cables, and I used 2 of them camping last week with maybe 20kg of food in them, carried fine. No sharp edges, plastic is fairly firm but not brittle. The rollers are not going to cope with rough surfaces like concrete for very long and the handles unclip and fall off too easily but for $6 I'll probably get a few more, but wish I had bought more of my dive tubs, they've lasted 30 years!

I did use the Bunnings tubs you linked but they went brittle and fell apart, and the ones exposed to UV were considerably worse.

These are great, bought a stack for my wedding back in April to easily transport all our DIY stuff.. Even filled them with water to delabel a stack of bottles and jars, moved/wheeled them around, they did not flex much at all and are very strong.. I have them stacked 4 high in my spare room and need to move house so just ordered another 18 as this will make it so damn easy. Cheers OP and the person who advised of the 5% email signup, the wife thinks I have a problem buying so many and she may be right, but she's married into this!

  • What's makes them shock resistant?

    • +2

      Kevlar

      • -6

If that comment was from anyone else it would've been +ed. JV always cops the negs.

      shock resistant

      Surge protection.

      springs

  • +1

Not going to neg but these boxes are pretty average, I bought 10 when I was moving house a few months ago and 3 of them are cracked/broken and they were handled with care only by myself. Just lifting them with by the handles with a little weight inside them is enough to break them.

Still for the price if they break they are cheaply replaceable.

    • Yeah I'm surprised are you sure these are the exact same ones? They've been nothing but solid for me and they've been in the wars.. But you're right, also cheap to replace if they do

      • +2

        Yeah the exact same ones.

This was my order details: http://i.imgur.com/yT4UNXW.jpg

You can see the same sku number in my order and the tubs for this deal.

        • Yeah cheers bro I was just thinking given the contrast in our reviews sorry didn't mean to question your purchase, maybe different batches? For the price it's definitely worth taking the shot though

        • +1

          @RickyCruise:
Yeah it could be a different batch, they are the same part number but the yellow clips for the lids are slightly different and the plastic is very shiny instead of matte like the picture on the website. The mouldings on the side and on the lid are identical though, I think maybe they just switched to cheaper materials to get more profit.

Still they are better than the similar priced clear office works ones that shatter when you look at them the wrong way.

  • How much are the patio heaters normally?

    • About $130

      • So not that cheap really.

    • $15-$30 on Scumtree with gas bottle.

  • Thanks OP. Getting 4 more!

  • I'm not entirely sure but you should be able to pick up the 5% for signing up to emails plus the 2% cashrewards

      Why the name "Masters"?

Who is the slave? The employees? The customers? Bunnings? The suppliers?

      • +1

Probably a reference to being a master of one's trade. So the counterpart wouldn't be "slave" but rather "apprentice".

        • Whatever we are masters of, in the end we're still slaves to biology and capitalism.

        • thanks

  • Hi Does anyone know if these storage box are food safe/BPA free? going to use these for vegie planters, etc.

    • Doubt they'd cope with the weight of soil, the plastic is thin and pretty flexible for that kind of load. The label doesn't say material.

  • Doubt BPA free, they stink
