SanDisk Ultra II 480GB SSD $225 Delivered @ Shopping Express

1540
arsepress

Contacted the SE rep yesterday to see if I could negotiate a deal similar to my recent PC Byte posts. Suffice to say he was very obliging, but boy did I have to push him to get it down to this price. Apparently these have just increased in price due to the falling Aussie dollar, so to get it at $225 delivered by registered post with insurance is a real win for you guys.

There are only 100 in stock, and sale is limited to 1 per person for fairness. Apply coupon arsepress (lol) at checkout, and select the second delivery option (with insurance). All stock is shipped from Australia, and should be delivered within 1-2 business days. Hope to bring you plenty more deals from SE, PC Byte, and other stores in the coming weeks. Have a lovely night :)

    • That was my other choice. May use it next week :)

What's the controller for these drives? SandForce?

Tightarse please negotiate on a MX Master deal - I beg you.

    • +1

Yeah, I'm only buying Samsung or Intel SSDs atm. Crucial is likely good too!

  • Hoping for a good deal on a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro or 240GB Sandisk Extreme Pro sometime soon :)

  • +1

It's ok. But I paid like 239 from Msy 6 months ago …..

I'd be more interested in higher capacity ones. Saves me sata ports. Ask about that deal pls.

    • +1

It's still $239… and nowhere has it cheaper… so this is still a good deal ;)

      • Sure but is 3-4% off what passes for a bargain these days ? ;-)

        • +1

Depends on the product, but for computer parts it certainly can be. Don't forget this includes delivery which makes a big difference.

        • If it's something people are looking for, and the prices don't drop much/often (6mths+ in this example).
People divert many hundreds of dollars, to save that amount. WISH card deals, ING paywave etc.
We're getting OT now. Agree to disagree.

        • Given the change in exchange rates in the last 6mths, I'm surprised the price hasn't gone up!

  • Time to rename ozbargain to tightbargain or arsebargain

    • +3

The latter is a totally different kind of site…

      • arsebargain might not work well with the Ozbargain visitors, some things will get tighter but some will be otherwise :D

I've held off getting an SSD so far. If a Samsung EVO 500gb comes down to <$200 I may finally jump on it though..!

    • +7

Why would you hold off on an SSD… Probably the best performance bang for buck you could buy for your computer.. Do it.. Buy it now… You won't regret it!

Baby Jesus weeps every time someone waits for HDD response.

        • Baby jesus can use a whole box of tissues in the time it takes to write 1mb at 4k QD32

Want a decent capacity and brand for good value. My PC is still pretty fast (I know SSD's are super quick as my Surface Pro has one!) and I just want to wait until the price is just right ;)

        • Lol

        • +1

$200 for 500GB is the magic point?
500GB is above & beyond a magic point, anyway.
Massive storage, and bound to overcommit.
There's a reason we paid "too much" even for even 40/60/80GB years ago.
There's a reason we're addicted. The value was there the minute reliability was.

        • The price was right since about 5 years ago with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/27154.
You can wait another 5 yrs for 2tb ssds.

I dont know why someone will take this over the Samsung EVO 850 500GB
its around the same price form amazon (US$167.73=AU$225.29)

I believe Samsung is better and faster

Although there was some debate about whether the Samsung has an international warranty in the other thread

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201564

      It may only be 30days.

      in b4 australian warrantears

      edit beaten

seriously, the whole point of buying a decent brand like samsung is that chances of failing is so low you dont have to worry about warranty

      • I actually got a Samsung 6 months ago (from amazon) without knowing about the warranty.

I agree that it's likely not a problem.

    • +2

Because I can't be bothered waiting for Amazon to deliver it to my place.

      • +2

sometimes you get this faster from Amazon. My turnaround delivery is usually 3 -4 days when i order via Amazon

    • Amazon has the upcoming prime sales that is predicted to see new all-time-lows on SDD drives, so there's another reason for waiting.

  • +2

I have had this drive for 1 year, it's fast, no problems and Sandisk have a nice software package you can use with the device. The difference between the Samsung 850 EVO and this is marginal and unless you're writing and reading gigabytes frequently you won't notice any performance differences during gaming/everyday use.
How do I know this? I have a Samsung 850 EVO and Pro too. :D

  • -1

isn't it only around $250 from local retailers?

    • If you don't care about $25 saving, which is about 10%, why are you even here lol

      • -2

not really, sometimes that 10% saves you more efforts if warranty needed, if that 10% is 250 then it's completly different :)

  • -2

Waiting for 256 or 240GB delivered in $100…..

  • Waiting on the deal on Samsung Pro 850 ;)

  • +1

Any chance of a deal on Samsung Evo 250GB?

    Or any other 240/250GB SSD's?

  • Thanks TA. Just in time for the new box I'm putting together.

  • I wonder who TA will be flirting with tonight for a 'deal'?
