    "Reg. $54.98"

    Maybe in some other universe…

5 packs for $62.90 using code; 12OFF65 works out as $12.58 a pack. A home should have no less than at least 40 eneloops :)

    • God damn it. How on earth did I miss this deal? XD

  • +19

    Only member for 6 years!
This is why I don't bother posting deals.
There's always sad people out there that obviously don't have a life, and just spend their day's criticising..

  • ( Just received that code in my email after placing a order )! BUGGER!!!!

    • If you click the 'reply' button after a comment instead of typing in the 'Post New Comment' box at the bottom, your replies will follow directly on from the comment and have more context.

  • anyone recommend a charger that's decent but cheap? thanks op btw

    • Thats an oxymoron, if you want the batteries to last buy a decent charger (which incidently will last you for years).

      • -1

Last battery charger I purchased was 6 years ago and cost $22 and is still going strong.Cannot justify in spending $54 on the charger alone, Thanks for your help though lol

        • Well if that's the case your original post makes no sense. If its still going strong and its so great why are you after another one? lolz……….

        • @Bargainz: My question has already been answered in the posts below.Just wasn't sure if I would need a different charger other than what I have had been using previously..

        • -1

@warmbeer05: Your question had no reference to needing a different charger. Neg all you want… Derp

        • +1

@Bargainz: thanks for all your help

        • @warmbeer05: No problem :P In all seriousness though do some research between the cheap and more expensive chargers especially how they affect battery life.

        • @Bargainz: Just found out there's ones made in China and some are made in Japan lol, ones are better than the others lol ,,maybe I may just stick to my Aldi rechargeables

        • +1

@warmbeer05: Yea there's a huge variation in quality. My main concern with a battery charger is safety ,especially if you charge overnight. Does yours have a thermal or maximum charge cutout?

There are also different rates at which different types of batteries should be charged so that the cells arent damaged. If you are intending to use rechargeables alot and want your batteries to last (especially if youre buying decent batteries like eneloops) I recommend a branded charger (which in the long term will save you money).

        • @Bargainz:

I've forgotten (more than once) to take my Eneloops out of my LaCrosse BC-700. They've been fine everytime, not hot or anything. Cutoff kicks in and you're fine. Not that it should be a habit but if you have a useless memory like me it's comforting to know.

        • @Click_It: True, but you are using a decent charger with those kind of protections. My concern is there are alot of issues with cheaper chargers that people dont consider, especially when it comes to safety.

I actually came to Ozb last night hoping to find some eneloop AAA's - disappointed there were no deals on 8xAAA I stumbled onto them at Dick myself….now I'm kicking myself I didn't post them as an eneloop deal on here myself !!! (I feel like I've let the community down, it should be a membership requirement to discover and post at least 1 eneloop deal before being accepted into this communinty).

    • I've been needing to get some AAAs and every deal is gone by the time I check here. What the heck is this $50+ full price!!??

  • Never thought I'd follow the rest of the ozbargaining trend but looks like I might buy these :).

Just a quick question: I have an Energizer NiMH battery Battery Charger. Am I right to assume that these will charge in it?

    • I tried charging eneloops in an Energizer charger and there was no response. maybe the more recent energizer chargers will handle them. I bought a LaCrosse charger for my charging needs. It handles all brands

    • +1

They should be able to charge them, but those cheap chargers are timed chargers and will fry your batteries. No point getting high quality batteries and then charging them with a crap charger. I'll recommend getting the BC-700, the nitecore I4 is good, D4 if you want an LCD screen.

      • I'll have to budget for one. Do they all hold 4 batteries or can you get some that charge more?

        • They can all hold 4 batteries. They also charge the batteries individually in other words you can charge the batteries one at a time, you can't do this with other chargers, you often need to charge 2 at a time.

      • Nitecore D4 seems pretty good (individual charging and the like!). Don't buy the one for $42.99 when you can buy it for $42.79 from same seller!

    • I use a energizer nimh charger with my eneloops just fine :)

  • pickup available?

    • Pick up some stores.
You need to check on site.

no more dead mice keyboards touchpads remotes or other devices dead in the house ever again

Is Dick now always making you pay for shipping for these eneloop deals?

  • +1

No Click&Collect option, so now you have to pay the shipping fee as well which is about $7-10 + $15(eneloop), so eneloop AA 8pack now comes up $24-25, which is equal to most of the local dealer on Ebay(free postage). What's point to buy this deal, when you can buy it as the same price on ebay, at anytime you want. Unless, they make the CLick&Collect option available, then its worth to look at.

    • yep i just realized only at the point about to check out. dammn the postage……

  • Can someone please let me know which one are made in Japan?

    Thanks!

Have a look at this PDF, it will answer your question Link

      • +2

while this doesn't answer the question.. it does help explain the whole process

"Sanyo actually bought the battery manufacturing entity from Toshiba in 2001 and named it Sanyo Energy Twicell.

When Panasonic asborbed Sanyo, it was sold to FDK, a satellite company of Fujitsu, who renamed it to FDK Twicell (FDK has now been reabsorbed into Fujitsu as a division). It was sold as a going concern, so it's the same factory with the same technology and has continued to produce all Eneloops to date. It's now acting as a supplier to Panasonic, who apparently cancelled plans to expand their own manufacturing. Note that Panasonic did not sell the larger scale automotive battery line from Sanyo.

Non-retail cells are sold as FDK Twicell instead of Sanyo Twicell, it's just the retail cells that are branded either Sanyo or Panasonic (or both) or Fujitsu.

There are small differences between the cells, but you have to realize that this is more down to different generations or variants that co-exist. The last two Sanyo-branded models progressively reduced self-discharge and increased life expectancy. Technically, Panasonic's most recent model has marginally better life expectancy, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it (2100 cycles vs 1800).

The higher capacity (2550mAh) cells have a higher level of self-discharge, but again, that improved with the more recent version to 85% retention after one year, vs 90% for the 2000mAh cells. The only drawback for most applications is cost and weight.

I would take claims of 3000mAh capacity with a grain of salt. That might be achievable under laboratory conditions, but in practise their effective runtime tends to be much less than with 2500mAh Eneloops."

  • I was just hoping some rechargeble bettery deals and BANG! the moment after i refresh the page! you have no idea what it feels like. heaven maybe.

  • Thanks OP, bought some batteries and the family charger pack. Told my mate and he spent $120 on them!

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought a few packs. Now need to find a good charger…

  • Can anyone recommend the best charger for my eneloop collection

    • I'm using the Panasonic BQ-CC16 'Smart & Quick' which came with a set of four Eneloops I bought a while ago. It's both smart and quick, funnily enough. It treats each battery separately and charges accordingly. Look out for a deal which has it included.

    • It's been said a million times - including previously (above) in this thread.

Come on dude, take your Eneloops seriously!

  • No more click n collect? Do you think worthwhile waiting for just pay $8 delivery?

  • Bought 4 packs of eneloop pro for $55.20 using code. Pick up in store. thank you :)

    • What code do u mean?

For those after a charger, @Nyen suggested a few above

    • There seems to be one for $39.99 shipped as well.

edit: although no bonus car charger!

Overinflated RRP! (and this "special" returns more often than a John Farnham farewell concert!)

    • I don't think that warrants a neg. DSE has always over-inflated their RRP this way and everyone knows it (well I'd hope so). Applying that logic every DSE deal deserves a neg.

      • -1

every DSE deal deserves a neg.

        Just about!

DSE has always over-inflated their RRP

So we knowingly allow them to falsely inflate the RRP just so that they can have "specials" every day! Is that not then a justifiable cause for having a major issue with a retailer?

Also, everyone here knows they lie about store stock levels when putting on these "specials". Yet another reason for having a major issue with a retailer!

Edit: Ps. Report my vote then. I'm actually VERY curious to see what the mods ultimately think of these 2 issues with DSE!

        • Hmmm, I thought the "major issues with a retailer" falls more to those retailers who send fake products, have really bad customer service, those ones that are likely to run off with your cash. Well I guess you could argue that DS is bad in that regards. That said, DS is not as dodgy as those people that I'd neg for with reasons you've mentioned.

I hate being the one who goes "here are the guidelines blah", but:

If the deal doesn't apply to you, you don't like the company, or you want to leave a warning for people about the business or deal, you can leave a comment and then not vote.

          Major issue with retailer
          1. Didn't receive previous purchase.
          2. Shipping time exceeding expected wait.

I am getting the gist that it's mainly concerned with receiving goods and stuff, which, while I do agree that DS is not exactly the nicest retailer to deal with, they are better than many many Chinese retailers in that regards.

        • I don't want to report you for anything. I just thought the vote was harsh. Just my opinion. You'll note I never upvoted the deal myself.

Fwiw I never negged you either.

      • I might add, one day I needed to get some eneloops in a hurry (day before a public holiday, kids screaming etc) - I think I paid about $65 for 2 x 4 pack of AAA's from Dick retail. It still makes me lose sleep.

    • Can you link us to a cheaper source of Eneloops than DSE?

      • No… and I don't recall typing anywhere that I could get them cheaper elsewhere!

Can I ask you this: Would you yourself ever buy these batteries for $54.98? or $44.98? or even at $34.98?
        No? Why?

        • Sure I would - if I specifically needed Eneloops and $54.98 was the cheapest and historically lowest price.

If you're hunting for bargains, what does it really matter what the RRP/MSRP/MAP/ETC price is. What matters is where to buy something we want for the cheapest price delivered. Until a competitor drops their Eneloop prices lower than DSE, these are still good deals.

If you've want to do something meaningful regarding DSE's "inflated RRP" and stock levels, lodge a complaint with the ACCC.

Also, RRP means "recommended retail price". It's not set by DSE, but the product manufacturer/importer.

I hope DSE keep selling Eneloop 8-packs for $15. I don't want to pay $25+ for them.

  • I purchased a few pack of Eneloop, added up more than $65, pay over $7 for delivery, but get $12 off.

  • Just want to know if anyone has found their Eneloop not holding charge after only a few recharge?

I have purchased a few packs of AA this year and I found after only two or three charge. Almost 50% of them can hold only less than 800 mAh. I thought the capacity is supposed to be 1900 so wasn't expecting that to be dropping that fast.

I am using ozbargain charger of choice LA CROSSE, and there isn't much improvement after the refresh cycles.

    • I found results similar (not as bad) with the Chinese chocolat's. Same charger.

No such problems with the Japanese eneloops. One reason I don't buy MIC anymore.

  • Thanks for your reply. Good to know that I am not the only one, but bad luck for both of us I guess.
