I bought this kind of laptop maybe 4 months ago (for 700$AUD from USA)

Love the computer, PERFECT for everything I do no problems. Of course no games, but web browisng , and everything etc

So if you dont want to play games, go ahead.

Only complaint is this laptop gets hot when on my bed, so I guess it has bad airflow, but what can you do =] Never overheated so I dont care its cheep and will provide me 2+ years of computing :D

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD big tick for playing HD videos; C2D as well. Little frown on 10/100 Ethernet tho.

    11g is kinda awful too

expect more from a $700 laptop

  • Almost bought the same laptop the other day before my dad found this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20127 (just posted it for you/others).

It's a Core 2 Duo Dell Inspiron 15 from Officeworks for only $596! It's got one gig of ram less (3Gb is plenty) and maybe a different graphics accelerator (?) for $100 cheaper. Good if you've got an Officeworks within easy distance or you can also order online for what seems like reasonable shipping and handling (said $4.95 when I entered my postcode in).

EDIT: And to the poster that said expect more from a $700 laptop, I'm sure the O.P. would love any specific examples you have.
