32 DVD boxset from Amazon for US $84.99 (US $100.97 including shipping, at least, that's what Amazon's checkout showed me). With our strong dollar, it might be worth snapping this up now.

It's Region 1, so make sure you're able to play it first. It has an aspect ratio of 1.33:1, however I think even the UK and Australian releases have that, so there's little reason to buy it from here.

The following are price comparisons from Australian stores (excluding shipping):

  • AUD $145.00 from JB-Hifi Online
  • AUD $186.03 from DVD Crave
  • AUD $189.79 from DVDown Under
  • AUD $219.97 from EzyDVD
  • AUD $299.85 from Atlantic DVD (and out of stock)

  • Features 32 DVDs with all 180 episodes
  • More than 104 hours of amazing extras
  • The Official Coffee Table Book: a 226-page bound anthology filled with photos, quotes, and trivia from every episode
  • Bonus disc featuring the reunion of the cast plus Larry David on the ninth anniversary of the series finale
  • Packaged in a handy collector's case that will look great on your shelf
  • Documentaries for all nine seasons
  • Inside looks
  • Not That There's Anything Wrong With That (bloopers)
  • In the vault (deleted scenes)
  • Yada Yada Yada (commentaries)
  • "Sein-Imation"
  • Notes about nothing

Kmart currently has this on special for $99, normally $150. Good price otherwise so won't neg.

    • Thanks jasong. Just bought it from Mt Ommaney Kmart. It's 32 Discs set, without bonus disc "The Roundtable"

If you're a purist, the US edition is better. It doesn't suffer the PAL speedup effect of converting NTSC TV shows to PAL format. When watching a TV show from the states, which was originally recorded in the NTSC format then converted to PAL so it works here in Australia, the picture AND sound run faster - 4% faster. What this means is that the sound you get from the TV show is at a higher pitch, and you're getting essentially a distorted reproduction of the original.

But having said that, most people won't care. I own the PAL version of the Seinfeld set, and if Kmart are doing it for $99, get that. It's a bargain.

That's a really good point cmdwedge. PAL is slightly sped up due to the frame rate difference (24fps vs 25fps), so anyone that cares ultimately about quality will buy the region 1 release.

With that said, buying the PAL version isn't going to be much different. Even though the 4% speed increase does exist, it's highly unlikely that anyone will know without having a comparison. The difference is negligible in most titles. I guess music DVDs would suffer the most.

My recommendation would be to get whichever's cheapest, unless you care about things like frames per second, (non)anamorphic, etc.

Anyway, the Amazon deal has expired now as has already been pointed out.

  • Which Kmart has it for $99?
Had a look at my local Kmart (Burwood) and it was marked at $150.

cmdwedge: Thanks for the info. That's good to know. guess I'll be ordering the US version after all.

    • Should be all of them, original price is $150 so that will be what is marked on it.

      Expires 16/12

  • Burwood (thats my hood) lollll

  • Got this, Seinfeld rocks!

  • Expired
Now 99.99. That didn't last long. Glad I got my order in on time

    • whats expired? - the original post? or te Kmart deal. If its the Kmart deal I cant expire this post because its still valid - or is the US deal expired - if so then I can please be more explicit.

just went and checked out the boxing day sales. and at BIG W they have this for $98.73, pretty good price considering jb has it for $145 still and clows on ebay trying to flog them off for close to $200

  • I also saw this limited version at an OZ retailer for around $100.
This is not a bargain at all.
