Cheaper than the previous deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199342
But item location: Hong Kong, so I reckon it is Hong Kong version and didn't support band 700 which their spec page said supported but they have removed that on kogan.com.au

If you're on Optus then maybe.
Not worth the $100, Taiwan build firmware is riddled with battery issues.
This is the Worldwide build firmware, which everyone loves to keep calling Hong Kong version. This does not have the Taiwanese addons/bloat to suck all your battery.
I'd rather have a phone without battery issues instead of a phone with 700 and dies so easily.
Some you can uninstall and some you can disable it, not an issue.
Its due to being 5.0 and known across many phones that it has a battery drain issue. They will be updating the firmware but havent yet.
It has nothing to do with the Taiwan version. Yes it has bloatware but I uninstalled most and disabled the rest without even rooting it.
Also $100 should also get you the 64GB version.
Any link for the one compatible with band 700? Thanks
qd_au on eBay but no 20% off at the moment.

Apparently the hardware is all the same across all ZE551ML's, it's a software restriction that stops you from using band 700.
If you don't mind tinkering with your phone and probably voiding the warranty you can follow this thread at XDA developers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/how-to-chan…
People are working on changing the 4G bands and effectively unlock all bands.
Note: Proceed with caution.
Edit: It's currently not working.

Hmm …. Did they disassembled everything and checked every hardware so that they can be sure they are the same?
@superforever:
I'm not too sure how they discovered this. It could just be a flash in the pan..
Am I missing something or what on kogan site it says 700/800/850/900 ……
The Kogan site not Kogan ebay, also on Kogan eBay item location Hong Kong.

does this model have good compatibility with all android apps?
heard somesone said frequent app unexpected stopping
I have no problem, it may have a few uncommon it.
Battery needs to last over 24 hours with heavy use, otherwise there are plenty of handsets that may not have the grunt, but have better battery - and i think battery life is almost the most important feature of a phone - it annoys people the most when it runs out.
Any comment on the HK version battery?
I am not a very heavy user, mostly receiving calls, browsing Internet, some facebook, whatsapp, etc.
Fully charged overnight and down to 50% before go to sleep at night.
I noticed that this is dual sim. Anyone can confirm if both sims support 3G/4G? G3 and G4 disappointingly only support 2G on 2nd sim. so I end up with Moto G2 with dual 3G but unfortunately 1GB ram just doesnt cut it now. Thanks in advance
Same with this one SIM 2 only 2G.
Thanks, too bad… I just need to tweak my Moto G2 then
I'm in search for this also. A dual sim phone with great specs which is switchable on both sims 3G/4G would be excellent
Is it worth upgrading from the 550ml? finding the lag becoming unbearable
The 550 should be OK with 2GB ram.
It seems from further reading the zentalk forum lots of people are having lag/ battery issues. Should be fixed up by android 5.1
How good is OS update by Asus? I found Samsung's update is horrible.
If I remember correctly already updated 3 times to fix up bugs and battery issues, etc.
Ah that's not too bad. I found LG is also good in OS update.
Hopefully they will have 5.1 or 5.1.1 update soon. I heard somewhere they are working on it.
Yeh, that's good. I would buy if it has dual 3G at least, too bad 2G only for 2nd sim. Somehow I only find Moto G2 has dual 3G. Any one knows any other phone has this feature? Sony phones? Thanks much.
I find some lag on my 550ml when a Facebook chat head pops up, it freezes for a minute or so. It does lag sometimes, but yeah.
Battery is so so. Could be way better
This is a link for the 32Gb Phone which is $349 free shipping
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-ASUS-ZenFone-2-ZE551ML-4G-LTE…
That appears to be the 2GB RAM with Intel Atom Z3560 (1.8GHz). The Kogan one is listed as 4GB RAM, Intel Atom Z3580 (2.3GHz).
So when i go to purchase this it is 327.20
edit the price in title includes cash rewards
I didn't put cash rewards in because I don't have.
I think they may have up the price, updated.
They've upped it again :/
damnit Kogan, you give me no choice… but to purchase anyway :(
hopefully ill get it within the next 2 months and fingers crossed
It is funny how they forgot to edit out the original price of $399 in the item description and now the price has been upped to $409……
That is why they made the spec wrong is nothing special.
Anyone compared LG G3 and this? Atom CPU tends to have some applications due to extra translation layer. Like the SBS on demand failed to start on my Kit Kat Asus tablet.
LG G4 vs Zenfone 2

Just installed SBS online I have no problem to start it and play video.
So i just recieved this:
"The following item(s) from your order have now been processed and will be shipped to you shortly. Please note: We ship goods from multiple facilities, so if your order is incomplete, don't worry, these will be shipped to you very soon!"
Guess it will be here in a few months
People just received the phone and reported it is HK version with 1.8 CPU.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/199342?page=1#comment-2877…
mady123 just reported that he/she received the Taiwan version 2.3GHz.
Worth spending the $100 more just for band 700?
