  • Interesting….

    • Ouch , especially if you violate the terms unintentionally.

Although big deal promotions really are not that great anyway

  • There might be an increase in time wasters too. People that buy it now and do not pay.

    • I have 16 payments not paid to me within the past two weeks.

Why are people so slow or stupid!

Anyway, this is a great deal.

      • please tell me you havent posted until receiving payment ?

Wow you must sell a lot of items i list approx 50 items per month and hardly ever have delay payment problems, possibly there is something wrong with your payment method ?

        • Payment method is paypal.

Its actually the start of an eBay business so I'm selling a lot of items.

The most popular two reasons people don't pay:
I accidentally bid on your item
I thought your item had free postage

Or they just don't respond to me or eBay when I file a case against them.
I know I can force quite a few of them to pay, but I know I'll get negative feedback from that.

Its difficult to accidentally bid on something, and each item page has a last edited time which can prove if I have quickly edited it from Free postage to paid.

So basically people on eBay suck.

I have had a lot of good sales though so I can't complain that much.

And no, I don't post until I receive payment. Even if I do eventually get my fees back, its a lot of time wasted on failed purchases.

      • I only sell once, get pay, buy 40 times, always pay ASAP, people do not care, seller can not post the neg to them can't we?

    • +1

try this…under "Choose your payment options", check the "Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now" box in the Paypal section.

      • Yeah I use that nowdays. Especially given this is for a Buy It Now. No real reason that you wouldn't want the money immediately.

  • Good deal - just listed 5 items buy it now at $50 - saved me $7.50 in listing fees.

Pity it's not for auction listings too…

  • I didn't get the email :(

    • It doesn't matter. As long as you are eligible for this promotion you should be able to list for free

      • Yeah I just realized :)

  • its an awesome deal, coz even if the stuff does not sell who cares, you didn't have to pay any money :) u used it last time they had the offer and sold 6 out of the 9 things i listed.

    • If it doesnt sell you can always relist it for free too!

      • I think insertion fee credits only apply to auctions not "buy now" listings

        • Ahhh you are right.

          • @Turd: I'm sure it applies to Buy It Now auctions too, but:

            1. The buy it now auction must have been for a single item. So no multiple QTY auctions count. Solution: post up to 20 individual auctions for the same item ;)

            2. You still have to pay the second lot of listing fees, as well as the first, if it still doesn't sell. (In this case listing fees = free?)

Theres a few other conditions too, like you can only decrease the buy it now price, and not raise it.

            • @MetalPhreak: The help pages say otherwise. Never tried it myself though
              http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/relist.html#requirements

-Both the original listing and the relisting must be in Auction-Style or Best Offer Only (eBay Motors) format.
-Buy It Now, Classified Ad, and Real Estate listing formats aren't eligible for relisting credits.

              • @rle02: Ah fair enough. I went straight past that and assumed they were talking about buy it now stuff when they mentioned single quantities. I forgot you can do multiple qty auction style :3 Excuse my lack of fine print reading skills ;)

  • +3

this is one of their better offers… but ebay still manage to murder your wallet with the plethora of other fees…

  • Just listed stuff :)

If it sells, i'll make less than if it sold through my site (but a sale is a sale right?) if it doesn't, it doesn't matter cause it cost me nothing XD

  • Great! I can relist all the junk I have that didn't sell before.
If it doesn't sell, it costs me nothing, right?

I can see even more crap than usual flooding ebay.

Wheeeeeee! 74 items listed so far. More to do tomorrow :)

  • So its been a while since I listed items in ebay…is it still better to use Auctiva to upload pics etc then insert in ebay (ie dont ebay charge fees for putting up a certain number of pics? or is this included in insertion fees?)..plz excuse my ignnorance, has been too long since ebay…thanks

    • Auctiva charges for their services now :(
Yes the extra pics will cost you through ebay. It is best to use a site like tinypic or photobucket
      Personally I use Tinypic

  • Its just the insertion fees that are waived (only a couple of bucks)

You still pay them a fee when you sell the item.

So its sort of a good deal, but imo a little misleading…..

    Cheers!

    • it's just zero insertion fees, not zero insertion fees AND zero final value fees. the latter would never happen ;)

i tend to prefer this sort of thing for selling higher value items…if it doesn't sell, no financial loss.

  • thanks for explaining the fine print:) muchly appreciated

  • so if i make a 10day listing on monday is it still free???

    • Yes, as long as its posted before midnight on monday AEDST eastern time.

  • Ok, so trying to get up some listings using tinypic, so once u've uploaded the pics then what? thanks, been a long time since I've done this:)

    • so once you upload the pics to tinypic you will be given a URL in the box labelled "HTML for Websites".
When you are creating the item description click on the HTML tab and paste in the URL.
Then just click on the standard tab again and add your description around the picture
      html

  • Fantastic!
I have many 'template' listings going on for 10 day auctions, so I can freely edit them anytime I like later to a proper listing and still have no fees.
This method is tried and tested by me!
You can change anything you like as it is a 'Buy it now' and not an auction.
You can later change the category, price, postage, description, add photos - you name it…
