  • Can't seem to find any real reviews on the product… Anyone know if it works, and how well?

  • I bought one of these devices about a year ago expecting to mirror web streaming on my Android (Galaxy Tab) to my TV. Unfortunately this device uses the WiFi capability of the Android to stream to the Miracast and Android appears to be able to support one WiFi session only, so I can't run net streaming and Miracast mirroring at the same time on Android. So I gave up on Miracasting and used a hard wired Samsung adapter to achieve the same outcome (web by WiFi -> Android by wired adapter -> TV). Perhaps someone else will have a solution to this apparent paradox … :-) .. !

Cornucopia, it sounds like your sending device isn't properly Miracast certified — you can still use Miracast, it just happens to require the sole use of the wifi radio, making your wished-for use-case impossible.

To explain a little further, Miracast & WiDI require an "ad-hoc" (ie: non-infrastructure mode) wifi connection to transmit data. Miracast-certified or WiDi-certified devices should all have the ability to set up this ad-hoc channel discretely from whatever infrastructure mode wifi network you're connected to (like your home wifi network), so assuming your device advertises the ability to do Miracast it should work fine in the way you expect: Streaming from the Internet, and casting to your TV.

Non-certified devices can still connect to the adhoc network just fine, but they may not be able to 'split' the wifi access between Miracast and your wifi network.

      • So does that mean in order to use the internet you must have a home network router and all. So I would not be able to view my windows tablet wirelessly on my TV while connected to the net via hotspot on my phone, as I don't have home internet

    • From this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PXwtSeolI0

this dongle can act as a router between the mobile device and the home wireless access point, thus enabling the mobile device to access the internet. (First and third parts of the video)

However, from the third part of the video, I believe the dongle is not using the Miracast mode. But at least this configuration works for both iOS Airplay and an Android device. May be someone with better Android knowledge (I have none really) can explain what apps/features the video was demonstrating with the Android device there.

  • Anyone know if this will work with Windows Phone's miracast ability?

    • They mention that it will in the title and comments on the gearbest page.

  • guys stay away from them they are the big lier and fraud, they demanded more money 3 times after selling me a mobile. I have already paid them $227 for $197 mobile and again they want me to pay $10 more

  • "EZAir (Airpaly)" [sic]

Anyone actually tried this from an IOS device?

  • This looks like the product: http://www.ezcast-wifidisplay.com/ezcast-dongle/
It's impossible to tell whether the ones for sale are old stock that is genuine, or newer knock-offs. Mind you, the knock-offs might work just fine and for $13 you can't complain too much.

  • Would this be a good solution for streaming movies from a PC to a TV?

  • Note this is ~$17 AUD, you can get dongles for about the same price on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=miracast&_sop=15.
