  • Google play?

    • Yes.

Sideload sim tray + built in battery is a deal breaker for me :/

    • +1

most phones are this way, whats wrong with side loaded sim tray, u samsung boy?

      • +2

I can possibly understand the battery issue if they are known to use cheap ones in the phone, but can't understand the sideload sim try being an issue at all.

  • Flyme 4.5 OS (Based on Android 5.1), but not strictly Android, so I doubt it will have Google Play.

If it doesn't ship for a month, does that mean it will take 2 or 3 months to get here?

    • +3

Flyme OS is simply the name of the ROM and is based off AOSP. Just like how Touchwiz is the ROM in Samsung phones and based off AOSP.

I'll find out if it has Google Play and get back to you.

    • +1

Based on Googling international variants of the FlyMe OS exists.

    • +2

Just confirmed that it does have Google Play. With free shipping it will take a ~3 weeks to arrive after the 25th of July.

      • My friend bought the M1 Note in China and it didn't have Google Play installed - he managed to finally install it, but it was not easy. Also some of the Chinese apps that were of no use to him could not be removed.
Meizu make good phones, but they don't appear to have international versions - but then why would they when there is such a large market in China.

A lot of decent and inexpensive phones have been posted recently - Lenovo k3, viewsonic V500, TCL S3,

    • Just got the K3. Model (K50-T5) Absolute CRAP!

Horrible firmware. (Supplied ST1511. Latest OTA ST1524)
Way too many questionable software pre-installed.
Custom launchers cause force close. (Tested Apex, Nova, Google Now and Z launcher).
Will not add widgets to custom launchers
Removing the built in antivirus related apps cause total system meltdown
Low current charging (Using Anker 40W charger and Tikbro cable)
Internal contacts app will not sync with Google account
Best of all, OTA breaks Play support. Have to manually flash 5.0 gapps package to restore some usability

      PITA!!!

      Pro: Great screen!

      • Flash the aosp rom.

        • +1

There is only one AOSP based rom yet. And its not reliable. Causes constant crashes.

The update software is finicky. CWM and TWRP work well, but isnt bulletproof.

        • @liveyourlife:

          Did you read whirlpool forum?

          @superforever:

Not yet! Will do now. Thanks for reminding me. :)

EDIT: AOSP V3 is much better! Thanks.

      • +2

        :(

it's interesting that you list the only pro as the screen, as it's one of the few weak points listed in a few reviews, and youtube videos aren't very flattering.

if you know how to flash gapps then definitely try the aosp rom!

      • I'm still not convinced the "questionable software pre-installed" isn't malware installed by the Chinese government to spy on other countries… scampers to hide tinfoil hat

    • Yea I'm struggling to decide myself..

All orders will be shipped from the 25th of July.

That's more than a month from today. Too far in future.

    • Seller seems don't know Pre-Order term or hesitate to put label on it.

      • You sure? It says Presale on the page.

Edit: I'm wrong. It was at the time of posting, but has been replaced by the on sale tag. Page however still says when it will be shipped.

Dont bother. Read my review above.

You better read whirlpool or xda developer.

  • Can the Sim tray take 2 sim cards + MicroSD at the same time?
or only 1 sim + MicroSD
or 2 sim cards without MicroSD

    Thanks

    • Only 1 sim with MicroSD or 2 sim without MicroSD.

  • Great phone

  • Any deals on the mx4 pro?

  • does this phone have a physical back button ? it was the one downside with the previous M1 note

    • Sources say it has a 'mBack' button, but at this stage I don't know for certain if it's a physical button.

      • Thanks, I found out from a video review.
If you tap (not fully press) the home button, it will go 'back'
        Very innovative !!

  • This device is expected to be at this price range, it compete at the sub 999 Chinese yen segment of the market.

    • yes, they downgraded the processor and the GFX compared to the MEIZU M1 NOTE (previous model)
      http://www.phonearena.com/news/Meizu-M2-Note-scores-less-tha…

    • Phone is currently retailing for ~170 USD on the other sites.

      • Any Good deal for removable battery/expendable memory smartphone in similar spec. eg.ulefone be touch 2?

        • Second this.

    • Looks like they dropped a whole $20.10 to compete with us. I'll see what I can do.

      • Can you drop your price by $20.10 ?

        • If MEIZU would allow us too, then sure, but at this stage I'm working on getting it down to 159.89.

    • And will arrive 3 months later ;)

      • Mine K3 note arrived within one month.

        • While my dash cam was changed from the 3-7 day shipping to the ~30 day shipping and took 2 months. Their posts are always full of people complaining about shipping, but that doesn't mean everyone has issues ;)

        • @Clear:

My dashcam also arrived within 1 month.

I just ignore their shipped date as I understanding they have the whole lot shipped to some place first before they shipped to customers.

That is why the shipped date to customer took so long, also don't use fast shipping like DHL because that is only from the actual place they shipped to you.

        • @superforever: Shipping times and processing times are 2 separate things and being the rep of Geekbuying I see that a lot ;)

        • @Clear:

OK, the reason why I think that is because I received a photo of my eparcel from them and they showed Aust Post on it but even that it still took sometime before it was actually shipped out.

That is why I think they have them all shipped to a facility somewhere before they actually shipped out to individual.
