Great prices, but can I ask if "I want that flight" stand by all third party links. The cheapest rate of 963 from melbourne is through travelgenio, a quick google search does not give me much confidence. I would love to be corrected.

      Hi bg,

We have been using TravelGenio for about 8 weeks, and so far the only complaint is that they add a booking fee for Mastercard CC. The price we list is for payment with Visa CC. We are negotiating with them to have the Mastercard CC fee dropped.

Other than that, there haven't been any complaints - certainly nothing about booking issues.

If you have any particular concerns, feel free to send me a PM.

      • Interesting. I was looking at them and thinking their rates seem almost too good to be true and considerably lower than other providers. Sounds like they might be a better bet than I thought. I have had issues with one of the other providers a couple of months back (Bestjet I think) where they accepted a booking and then cancelled it saying the rate was not available any more.

      • Thanks, I actually booked LAX fares about 8 weeks ago, travelgenio were the cheapest through your website by about $200 per ticket return (x5) but my research (and gut instinct ) told me to be wary. I can't afford tickets not being honored (and losing money) or even them canceling them (and getting refund). Since I respect your website curious to know more. Cheers!

  • Could I use this LAX SYD LAX?

    • Probably not. However, just enter the dates you want & give it a try.

Many cheers for listing the Hobart prices IWTF. We so miss out on most airfare listings and/or actual cheap deals. Thanks..

  • Rep, any deal for mainland Europe (Germany/France/Italy/Netherland etc) from mid July?

    • Hi bargainaus,

We don't have a page for 'Europe' so the easiest way to do this is to go to the world map then choose your departure city and month. Eg:
      http://iwantthatflight.com.au/world.aspx?oc=MEL&dm=8
lists flights from Melbourne in August.

Then move the map over to Europe.

  • If I'm not mistaken United codeshare with Virgin, and I've heard United have pretty average aircraft. Do these prices include codeshare flights then so you can book @ United prices and fly @ Virgin quality?

    • No it's delta airlines ….Virgin Australia prices are pretty cheap at the moment and the product is excellent. Air New Zealand are brilliant as well and also offer a great product.

Warning - United are a truly horrible (and from Australia pretty unreliable) airline. I know this is a cheap ticket offer but honestly after my experiences with them (across 15 years of frequent travel they are the ONLY airline i said 'never again' to) I wouldn't do it!

    • I'd have to agree. Honestly, I don't usually bad mouth companies based off of n=1 experiences but I recently returned from a trip across the US (with multiple United flights) and I have to say they are hands down the worst airline I have ever flown with. Examples: older planes, decommissioned flight attendants, terrible communication, terrible food and terrible ground staff. If you'd like me to elaborate PM me!

      • The filthy old 747's are out… 777 from SYD & 787 from MEL.

        • +1

I'd say that honestly the plane was not the worst of my experiences.

        • Plenty of complaints still out there after the plane change.

      • +1

        haha "decommissioned flight attendants".
I agree, United are terrible…. Having said that, the prices mean that I've flown with them on more than a few occasions SYD-LAX. They've sucked every time, but if you can sit through 14 hours of bad flight, it's worth it.
Question: Do they have seat-back tv's yet? Every time I've been they've only had a few on the roof and the main one in the middle behind the toilets area.

    • Aren't they using 787s now for the Aus-US route? Agree they were crap with the 747s but 787 would surely be okay?

  • any good deals from Perth in October?

  • o wow, look at that adl-LA return price..shame its not in september! can someone advice me on ticket price trends for september tickets (VA or Qantas)? Should I wait to book tickets until July?

  • It's interesting that it's cheaper to fly Brisbane to LAX (which stops through melbourne both ways), than it is to fly direct from melbourne. Good way to save a few dollars or would it be frowned upon? $897 flights stop through sydney on the way though it seems.

  • If you book just be prepared for UA to change the dates and if you don't like the change there is no negotiation, refund only. Even if they have other flights for your route.

I originally had Mel LAX OAK OGG LAX Mel and they added a day of waiting in airports and an SFO connection on top of the OGG LAX Mel leg home. (would have got home a day later)

I got a refund and booked almost the exact same times as I originally had with American Airlines for a few hundred more.

  • Are there ever any good deals to Vancouver?

Or should I just fly LAX and sort a cheapie from there?

    Leaving early November…

  • Is there anything for SFO? Or just a cheap connecting flight from LAX (but then you are much closer to a direct fare)

  • Flew United a few years back; never again. Do yourself a favour - buy a kayak and a heavy wetsuit - you'll be in more comfort paddling across the Pacific.
