It's a pity GearBest stuffed us around on the G1W-C deal from last month. Still waiting…

    • They seem to be stuffing around a lot of people at the moment including my self and others as part of this deal also: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196056.

      Proceed with caution people.

    • Mine arrived yesterday…

    • I have bought from GearBest occasionally, and I received all my items so I share this bargain to fellow ozbargainers! :)

      • I'm still waiting for my three G1W-C that I ordered shortly after that deal was posted. After the initial delay, they changed my shipping selection from Australian Line to SingPost when they sent the "order shipped" email two weeks ago, but SingPost tracking states the package was picked up at the start of this week. This makes two out of two orders with GearBest that have been late for me.

    Getting $113.13 AUD with PayPal

  • quality on this is pretty good for the price

There has been quite a few issues with the 0806 - make sure you at least get a gen 3 version (earlier versions had high return rates).
    www.dashcamtalk.com is a great resource.

    • seem like gen 2 is pretty much sold out everywhere, this should be gen 3, I'm ordering one myself! :)

      • +2

Yes but most places advertise them as gen 3 when selling.

Also if you do have old stock you would…. sell it cheap.

They conveniently ignored the question in the Q&As:

        Question:
I would like to buy this product. Before paying please clarify version / generation of this device?
        Reply:
        Hi,116724501.

        It is Chipset Ambarella A7LA50+OV4689

They were not asking about the chipset which was clearly listed in the specs.

        • lots of "expectation" from these minimum wages online staff in China…..sometime they don't even know what you're asking…..or too lazy/afraid to ask different departments or their boss/manager for answer they do not know! :)

after all, you get what you paid for!
there's a reason it's selling cheap here compare to other places or similar product

as I always said: "you want service? go pay for it! nothing is free!" :P

  • Thanks,

I purchased this with the Toll Shipping option as well - ain't nobody got time for 30+ day shipping.

Total of $121.20AUD, better than what is available on eBay. Now all I need to source is a MicroSD card.

Get one of these 32Gb EVO card and you are done:

pretty much worthless for expedited shipping because most of the time GB takes some time to deliver the product, once it's posted then only about 1 week to arrive, don't believe in their email, when it says posted does not mean it's posted.

      • What's the fastest shipping method?

        • Australia Line (TOLL) ($5.99) 3-7 business days??
        • Standard Shipping ($19.40) 6-8 business days??
        • Expedited Shipping ($7.84) 4-7 business days - but you say this is rubbish?

        Cheers,

        • I've always had success with Toll coming out of Asian countries.

Plus if they miss you at home/work you can reschedule and arrange for collection online.

By the way, for some reason GearBest have charged me twice via PayPal…. :(

        • @HelveticaNeue:

Is this "Australia Line (TOLL)" the same thing as regular TOLL from Asian countries? I've never ordered from GearBest simply because of the shipping dramas that a lot of people have.. Not sure why more people wouldn't select this cheap TOLL option??

That's why I'm still hesitant because if people are using this TOLL option and STILL having to wait 25 days then GearBest can eat me.

        • @tap:

Toll out of Asian countries into Australia are pretty quick, it's most likely people are selecting the free shipping option which does advise of up to 30 days….

        • @tap: Australia line toll was 7/8 days for me on 2 separate orders. Sat at sydney docks longer then shipping through china

It then gets delivered through Aus post

          More info here:
          http://www.gearbest.com/about/shipping-methods.html

          from best to worst:
Australia Line Registered Typically 3 to 7 business days FREE for orders over $40
Netherlands Post Registered Typically 7 to 10 business days FREE for orders over $40

  • Do these have the same problem as the 0805 where you can't select any half hour increments for the timezone? And you can't manually select the time as it automatically uses GPS GMT time…

  • this or XiaoMi Yi?

  • How easy is splicing for permanent power? I don't want it to use the cigarette lighter (and also don't want the cables).

    • It takes power through a microusb plug. Should be red for +, black for ground. To splice it you would either need to wire it to 5v supply. To get that 5v supply, you need to buy a 5v regulator capable of at least 1amp, and wire that to one of the switched 12v line. Or you could pull apart the cigarette lighter adapter and use that. Depends how good a job you want to do.

  • Glad this came along, because only 3 days ago I put my 0805 through the washing machine.

    • How?…

      • Put it in my hoodie pocket carrying it up from the car and forgot about it.

Checked the rattling in the washing machine and saw the dashcam circling around the window.

On the positive - can now upgrade to the 0806.

    • and no positive votes? :)

  • I wouldn't recommend this dashcam

    • Why? Because of their first batch?

Might take these guys to ACCC, as I am unable to track my shipment with the details provided and support has been terrible/non responsive.

    • +1

I'm sure they will be very sympathetic about your troubles with a Chinese online store.

      • I hope they would be, considering we as an Australian Government just signed a Free Trade Agreement with China.

        • +1

You expect them to actually do anything though?

        • @Thrift: Yes.

  • received mine few days ago……gonna connect it up but too busy…
