  • Yes finally!!! 20 percent off blurays!

  • Awesome!

  • 20% off all blu-ray and dvd does not include the current 25% off Disney special.

  • Yah!! Thanks op for letting us know.

  • Is this online as well?
    20% off that is.

  • If you purchase an individual item from the 4 for $20 section, the individual price is not discounted.

  • Hi very interested in the Samsung UA65JU6600W 65" but can't find any good reviews. Does anyone have personal experience. The price listed is amazing though. Guess wondering if series 6 is alot different to series 7 in samsung tvs

    • Its LCD. Buy the previous model LG OLED for a far superior picture at a similar price

      • Is that Samsung TV model really that bad?

        For the LG OLED, what's the model number if I may ask?

        • I'd also go the 200Hz, which this model isn't…not a great deal for that TV.

      • LG Only have 1 new Oled model and its a 55" for $4000 with no UHD, No smart & Only dual core. Definitely not worth the extra money just for the screen.

      • I reckon OLED is newer ? better image ? Where did you find LG deal ?

  • Didn't realise people still used dvd and blurays to watch movies :)

    • not everyone has a reliable internet connection with heaps of data to play with

      • +6

        and even if you do the quality isn't as good (at least for Blu-Ray). Do we have to have these sorts of discussions every time a DVD/Blu-Ray deal is posted?! :)

        • 720p and 1080p movies are available for download and stream :)

        • @roosta:
          still don't have a reliable connection with significant data allowance

          edit: and looks like it won't be happening for 5 years

        • @fattyboombatty:

          Fair enough. Out of curiousity, whats your max monthly spend? More and more ISP's offering unlimited plans at an affordable price.

        • @roosta:
          my BIL lives in the same post code 5 minutes away and connects to the same phone exchange. Due to the quality of his line he can't get ADSL. His situation at the base of a significant hill means his wireless is somewhat spotty and limits him to Telstra's service.

          He's on the $65/8GB plan and his kids churn through that on Youtube before the end of the month on a regular basis.

          Our town currently isn't on the NBN map, so we're looking at 5 years to get something decent in place

          @roosta:

          Quality is not determined by resolution alone, but bitrate as well.

          Streaming sources are not as high bitrate as Bluray, nor are rips (unless they are simple disc dumps). consider the photocopy effect (and the price of a Bluray compared to a legal download) and you will see why yes, people do still buy Bluray.

        • @fattyboombatty:

          I was asking you of your situation.

          I'm not in an NBN area either. I recently switched from ADSL2+ speeds with TPG (1.6MBps) to cable (stable, falling between 35-100MBps) with Optus. So you're saying he cannot get a wired service from an ISP and restricted to wireless only? That can't be right. What suburb is it that cant sustain a single wired connection? Does he have a landline?

          @Morien:

          Agree. However, different blue-ray BR rips are available for certain movies. You'd have to be pretty damn clever to sit there and pick out the differences. But we've established you're content to continue buying BR DVD's…and that's perfectly fine.

          I wasn't commenting on my situation, I was commenting on by brother in law's situation, of which I'm very familiar.

          His line of not of a good enough quality to get ADSL so he is limited to wireless connectivity. Not sure why that's hard to comprehend - plenty are in the same boat in this country

          @roosta:
          Since you edited and asked - Picketts Valley, NSW 2251. We don't have cable service in this area. The copper line quality is not good enough for ADSL and is not going to be repaired.

          @roosta: not too hard to spot the differences when you blow it up to a 120" projector.

        • +1

          @roosta: streamed 1080P is compressed. you can tell the difference from bluray

        • @zorrt: with the cost of a bluray, you might as welldouble the experience and go watch the film at the movies? Even bigger than your 120". I don't stream…stupid way to watch a movie unles you like the 'potential' for stream interruptions…

        • @roosta:

          720p and 1080p movies are available for download and stream :)

          Yes, I have netflix HD. The image quality (and sound quality) is quite poor in comparison to blu-rays.

          @roosta:

          Agree. However, different blue-ray BR rips are available for certain movies. You'd have to be pretty damn clever to sit there and pick out the differences.

          Where do you get these legally at a competitive price?

          I'd personally rather watch the movies at home. Comfier, less people, less ambient noise, watch whenever I want, can pause if needed, don't need to leave the house and find parking, considerably cheaper (two tickets to movies ~$20-30 compared to ~$10 for a blu ray), and the list goes on :)

        • +1

          @roosta:
          I love Netflix, but the quality of it and a BR are night and day.

          I would hazard a guess, and say that a lot of us here do what I do. Stream the things we want to see, but don't care too much about in the overall scheme of things, and buy on BR the movies we really love.

    • Actually, many people, like me, use neither DVD nor blue ray. We either go to cinema or, watch online such as Netflix.

  • Just went. As usual some DVD/Bluray price have been pushed up before this 20% off "sale".

  • +1

    so annoying it's only for 1 day :/

    • +1

      If they stick to the pattern of past years then there will be another one in the last 4 Days of June no guarantees of course but the pattern of their sales is generally very predictable.

    • Now confirmed Next 20% off is 26th-30th June

      • how do you source such important information? lol

        • For JBs past sale pattern I use the search feature on OZBargain :D
          In this case the sale confirmation came from over at the blu-ray.com forum(great place) someone got the catalogue early

        • @melmac77: beautiful.

  • Dammit! I just posted a dupe!!!

    And I searched for Samsung 65" tv too!??? Nothing came up?

    Sorry about that, mods!

    • Yeah the model num doesn't seem to be dropping down in search

  • +1

    If anyone buys the TV It would be great if you could come back and let us know how it is :)

  • Any good 55" UHDTV's for around $1800?

  • This TV is great if you enjoy an entry level Curved TV and don't have a huge budget for your panel.
    although……
    Samsung Tizen currently can be a little slow and sluggish at times but its got some good features now and now freeview plus enabled.
    The new remote from can take a little to get use to (not the remote but really the menu layouts).
    I would safely say 7/10 people wont be able to tell the difference between 100 hz and 200hz
    Free to air don't look too great but this is an issue with most 4k TVs (dw its still watchable)
    They do a good a nice job upsacling 1080p content.

    soooo…. tldr Good TV, not best, not worst but good for Price/Brand/Features
