Make up your mind, is it blu ray or VHS?…

There's also a range of $20 blurays under the 'buy one get one free' promotion, so works out to be the same price,

Why do people still bother with physical medium? Streaming or digital is the way of the future..

    • +3

Why do people bother making comments about how other people live their lives when it's no concern of them?

      • -1

Well isn't OzBargain about saving money.. So if you are buying something that will become obsolete (think VHS), isn't that the opposite of saving money?

        • +8

VHS was replaced by something significantly better - DVD. Blu-ray hasn't been yet.

What digital or streaming services would you recommend? Any I'm aware of are lower quality than blu-ray and each have their own catalogue so you have to subscribe to a number of services to access different things. On top of that you have to pay monthly fees if you want to retain the service. Furthermore, you can't sell or gift the digital copy.

In my view, blu-ray is good value for money. High quality, fairly cheap, rewatchable, giftable, sellable, no internet connection required to watch, no ongoing fees, etc.

@Evil-Elmo: You also get DVD/BluRay exclusive special features

Because no other readily available medium offers the same image and sound quality as blu-ray at this price point.

I have netflix (HD) and and while it is convenient, it has considerably worse sound and picture quality than blu-rays.

People seem to think as long as it is "HD" it must be exactly like the copy on a Blu-Ray. Then they get snippy and think everyone is wasting their time buying discs.

    • +2

People still bother for the quality. EvilElmo hit the nail on the head.

    • Quality aside, I like having a neat bluray collection on my shelf! Stream that!

      Legally?

      • -8

lol ive been watching movies illegally past 5 years- never got caught

        • +2

So it's ok to do illegal things as long as you don't get caught? :)

        • Where do you work so i can come and what ever payed service for free without guilt (prostitution or painful acts not wanted)

      • +3

Not sure how interesting the movies on Freeview catchup online would be…

    • hahaha
