Can you suggest any bargains because just about everything there can be found cheaper elsewhere….

    • +2

Sadly, I think you are correct, I haven't purchased anything from them in a while.

Picking a GTX 980 for example, $699 elsewhere, $719 at Centrecom.

Nonetheless, if one wished to purchase this product, this is still the cheapest (at least for this specific Gigabyte branded model).

      • For a while there they were on par with msy for price.

        • Indeed. I still have store credit due to some warranty returns, but they rarely have anything worthwhile using it on.
My last purchase was http://www.centrecom.com.au/roccat-alumic-hard-mousepad to replace my worn eXactMat purely because I had credit, I think it was marginally cheaper (inc delivery) elsewhere :/

        • I've shopped at their Hawthorn store for years… It's nearly always been a bit more expensive than MSY, but it was more convenient for me and I've never had a problem with them…

    • Hard drives are cheap there

I just noticed they're banned for sock-puppeting, oops.

    • +1

Yes, I have personal experience with their alleged unethical behaviour as a former employee. Not surprised they're banned on here.

    • Please explain!

  • Their Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming ($459/509) isn't bad or maybe an Intel i7 5820K for $469.

Most of their prices are pretty competitive so you could easily add up $500 if you're planning a rig.

  • Anyone know if this is good for the price…

    Desktop PC, Intel Core i5-4460(3.1GHz) - 8GB RAM - 1TB HDD - DVDRW - No Operating System

$449 plus shipping when you add an item worth $1 or more to your cart.

Not really. Plus no operating system (although Reddit has those for ~$20).

For considerably more fun - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/desktops/alienwa… (also has benefits of less power usage and being much smaller, and includes an Xbox 360 controller).
(Apparently clearance now that the 'steam machine' version is being produced, was previously $559 after 20% eBay).

      • Would just be using it for a home pc. Have a windows disc/code, so that wouldn't be an issue. But if it's not a good price at $449 plus shipping, then that's good to know.

      • CPU: i5 4460 $250
        Mobo: H81 $60
        RAM: 8GB 1600MHz $80
        HDD: 1TB $65
        ODD: DVD Drive $20
Case+PSU: $50 (You'd probably want to replace if you want a GPU)
The Centrecom adds up to around $525.
The Alienware adds up to around $450 with standard parts.

Shipping is around $30 for a system but there's also a 1% credit card/paypal fee so it's probably only a good deal if you can pick it up.

        • did you include the gtx 750ti that the alienware alpha has?

        • @ryudo222:
Ah, I thought I missed something. It's around $550~600 then but probably not much you could upgrade in that system.

        • @silent1: I don't think you are quite aware how small the form factor is (which would technically increase case cost!), also it's 750Ti equivalent, it's actually a modification of the 860M.

        • @Lukian:
I do understand it's around 1/10 the size of the Centrecom system but I just gave the equivalent price if size wasn't an issue.

This would come to $515, cheapest according to static ice is ~$550+.

Edit: They've changed postage prices from their fixed $7.2/$9… It's now about $18 for where I live. Keep that in mind.
    Also this is preorder.
