Tabasco 355ML $6.29 @ Costco Melbourne

70

First of all, my apology to the people from other states. Costco is only available in Melbourne at the moment…

Just went to Costco in Dockland, Melbourne this afternoon with my friend who is Costco member. The store is giant with a lot of items ranging from diamond to fresh meat under one cover. Frankly not many bargains down there. To give you an idea of their grocery pricing, Costco price is same as Coles / Wooly weekly sale price but you have to buy a lot in Costco to get that price. It is up to you to wait for Coles / Wooly sale price or buy in bulk right away in Costco. Costco states that only member (w/ 2 more friends) can go to shop. Eventually, 1 member can bring as many friends as he likes. The staff at the entrance do not check it seriously. However you have to show your (or your friend's) membership card at the register otherwise they don't allow you to pay! Note that you don't have to be the cardholder to use the membership card. It means the card can be shared by a group of friends.

OK just go back to the topic. Though not many bargains, I found this bargain at last! I love Tabasco so much! For your info, Coles / Wooly have 150ML version @$8-9 (so expensive!!!). Now you can get double the size for even lower price!

  • Thanks for the life story on Costco…

  • +1

I just love that this kid loves Tabasco! + vote for telling the whole world about your lifelong relationship with Tabasco. Neutral vote for this deal. :)

  • Nice story, valid bargain.

Would've preferred something about Bosco though.

  • When I joined, they were too busy to print photo on the membership card. Apparently, they issue everyone with new photo ID card now so I don't think just anyone can use it.

I should go back soon to get my membership money worth.

    • Yep, I heard that as well.
I also heard that if paying by card it must be in the same name as the membership card. It's in the T & C:

"Members may bring guests into the warehouse, though only Costco members may purchase items."

  • There are plenty of bargains if you can justify the $60 per year m'ship fee, but more importantly, the travel costs there.
Most people buy heaps of stuff at once meaning they need to drive down there rather than take public transport, unless you live nearby of course.

There are some good value prices to be found, though personally, I've found its more about the quality for the money on top of the sales prices comment of the OP above that is its selling point.

I think the Skippy peanut butter is a better bargain. Quality is great, and $5.99 for a 3lb jar, you can't complain. Yes, that's 1.36KG of peanut butter o__O

  • man i just bought some yesterday from Safeway for around $9.

    • but safeway didn't charge you $60 just to walk into the store…

      • +2

very true, but after i buy approximatly
6 bottles i am ahead, if you go by the ml size.
i will do that in in 6 months anyway.
I am over Coles/Woolies pricing, us the Aussie consumer is being jammed by them, this duopoly has to go.

  • I'm surprised Costco sell 355ml bottles, I'd expect them to sell at least 1 or 2 litre bottles of Tabasco…

  • Damn, I wish there was a costco here! I love tabasco, that's a really good price!

    • Are you in NSW? Costco head office is in NSW, so I believe they will open one soon in Sydney.

      • QLD unfortunately!
It's a bit strange for the head office to be in syd while the only branch is in Melb. ahah.

  • Another bargain - Jelly bellies, 45 flavours, 1.8 kg is a bit under $22 :)

If you visit the website, before shipping, it looks like $38 for 1kg http://www.jellybelly.com.au/bulk
(though you can get 49 flavours, so 4 flavours more)

Even more expensive from retail shops.

Note: that is a lot of jelly bellies …

  • There's also a nice High Sierra 2L hydration backpack for $20 or $30. I tried searching the web to compare prices, but I'm having trouble finding this particular model. Includes a full bag size pocket for a change of clothes I guess, pockets for CD player and a pocket for other items, I think … It's there, you'll be able to check it out :)

Could be good for a present
