    Any deals on 16gb (2x 8gb) ddr3l sodimms?

    • need sodimms for laptop but just 2*4gb please

    • Also interested in this (2 x 8GB SO-DIMM).

  • is 4gb actually enough for laptop with ssd, usage is sometimes lightroom, batch hrd processing, and browsing internet

    • I find 8gb is good if you're using lightroom too. I usually run lightroom + chrome with like 15tabs on my macbook pro with 8gb seems to be ok. It struggled when I used to have 4gb

      • ok thanks. i never have 15 tabs max is 8 but maybe having more ram make us want to open more tabs :D

Will I have clearance issue with my cpu cooler for this ram? I have a noctua nh-d14

I got the same HSF and looking at the picture I'm pretty sure it won't fit. I guess the heatspreaders could be ripped off but then that may cause issues with the warranty.

      • Too bad :( Was looking to upgrade my ram.

  • Anyone know which of these SSD's would be better? It is only going in a mid 2009 13" MacBook Pro.

    Thanks

    • The Sandisk SSD is MUCH better. The Kingston V300 switched to a cheap NAND so the write speeds are horrible. Google up Kingston V300 bait and switch.

The Sandisk has much better reviews and benchmarks and is cheaper

      • I picked up the Kingston on Friday but it doesn't run at full speed on the 2009 Macbook Pro due to the controller on the SSD (runs at negotiated link speed of 1.5Gbps instead of 3Gbps). Going to buy something else.

        • The Kingston is a SATA III (6Gbps) though http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/pc-components/5215-kingston-…
Your 2009 Mac is certainly the one limited to 1.5Gbps (SATA I)

          @Fobsessive:
Your incorrect, the mid-2009 13" MacBook Pro is not limited to 1.5Gbps, it has a limit of 3Gbps. I picked up a Samsung 850 PRO SSD (6Gbps) from MSY yesterday and installed it last night and it runs at 3Gbps - as it should.

I have also been in contact with Kingston Australia/New Zealand support and their engineers are looking into the issue, but I gave the SSD away, so I am not concerned with the issue anymore.

        • @luztra: Why did you go for the 850 Pro when it's double the speed your Macbook can handle? The 850 Evo would offer the same performance and similar reliability.

        • @Fobsessive: Because I will eventually swap it out with the Samsung 830 PRO that is in the 2012 15" we have (last model before retina, which my partner will not part with), which supports 6Gbps.
