It will be interesting to see if Aliexpress take up PayPal after eBay split.. god damn hope so

    • +1

its still technically owned by ebay

    • +1

Paypal will have their work cut out for them with Aliexpress…

    • +1

AliExpress may wants to introduce their own Alipay first.

    • +2

Aliexpress used to offer PayPal on checkout - up until about 3 years ago. Ali didn't drop PayPal - PayPal / eBay decided to remove that option for customers on the site. Pure conniving to retain a perceived advantage of more secure payment for eBay and other sites perceived to be less of a threat to eBay in the future - IMO.

    • +1

I hope so. My credit card details were stolen, and AliExpress is the prime suspect.

      • +1

Mmmm me too. Never use your actual card on AliExpress, only a Visa Giftcard. Sucks, because they've got the biggest range.

  • +2

Free shipping only works for 1 unit. I had to place two orders to get 2 with free shipping.

    • Thanks for this tip I will also place 2 seperate orders

      • Same here… thanks Snoovey for the tip :-)

  • Cheers. Not sure where my other one went so this is good timing. Now to wait the X weeks/months for delivery

I wouldn't store my CC details with Aliexpress. It's China based payment system with Alipay. You never trust those companies

    • I have purchased several items from AliExpress. You now have me worried.

Can you please cite some examples of credit card fraud/identity theft, etc, related to AliExpress, or AliPay?

A brief search I have conducted does not provide any specific examples, and in fact most references (to 'aliexpress fraud, etc) seem to be Ali's own sites and their seemingly-extensive consumer protection information.

      Many thanks.

      • I'm paying and punching my CC details every checkout. That's my preference. You can use Alipay if you like noone will stop you.

Like I said its my personal preference to say not to use it.

If you believe it is fine, then use it. Everyone does their own thing and bear with risks and benefits.

        So peace out!

PS. I would be worried if you trust Google on everything.

You realise AliExpress is also a Chinese company, right? Once they have your details in the system they have your details. If you were really that worried about them saving it then you wouldn't use it at all.

        • @Agret:

Of course, so I'm not storing my CC there, what else can you do? Use some other methods that stores your CC? Or use a card with low balance if you like

    • -2

Alibaba is listed at New York Stock Exchange, I'd say they are as trustworthy as eBay.

  • 19 cents is about 30 cents AUD? Assuming this is cheaper than eBay. Hopes it works for G3

    • +2

It's cheaper than eBay as far as I remember (I remember it being around $1~2 AUD). Can be wrong though.

  • I bought so many that I have to put them in my wife's intercontinental ballistic missile as they wouldn't fit in my bicycle helmet.

    • +3

      What did I just read?

    • +1

      Broden? Is that you?

  • Are these generic, or somehow restricted to Samsung devices?

    • +2

Generic. I have the same one (but with a slightly longer cable) and it works fine with my Sony Xperia Z

      • +1

Thanks for that. Anything unusually cool I should try? (Outside of external hdd, keyboard and mouse)

        • +2

Ummm, connect an Xbox 360 controller? Maybe a USB light-up Christmas tree? What about a USB-powered Pet Rock?

        • +2

Charging your phone from your tablet using a USB cable?

        • +3

I connect a USB to Ethernet Adapter to my Nexus 5. Allows my to use the full 100/40 of my NBN connection :)

        • +1

@delucz: So jealous :( Some of the Android devices have the drivers removed :(

        • @silverrat23:

          connect an Xbox 360 controller
Now that I have to try.

        • I get so sad everytime I remember I dumped my Asus Transformer Primr for a Samsung Galaxy Tab S only to realize that Samsung removed the drivers that recognized external HDDs and Xbox 360 controllers.

        • @YellowKnight: Don't remind me :'( I have to root my tablet (it's TabPro, but same thing happened) to use the Xbox controller (which is weird since they didn't remove the drivers on Galaxy S4 Active)

        • @YellowKnight: I have a galaxy tab s 8.4 and it does otg perfectly.

        • @hilariouspowerr: Are you sure? I'm able to access a thumb drive through the OTG cable but not a Xbox controller or an external HDD. Unless I'm missing something.

        • @delucz: Which usb to Ethernet are you using? Does Nexus 5 have USB3 for 1000mbps Ethernet adapter?

        • @AznMitch: I know what you mean, almost every Android I've had prior to the Nexus 5 have had the drivers removed :(

        • @Agret: I'm using this one here: http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/comsol-usb-…

The Nexus 5 is limited to USB2.0, so you won't be able to get gigabit speed. Although 100mb seems to work quite well. I can stream 1080p Youtube videos almost instantly when connected.

  • Does anyone know how long these usually take to arrive? Need one in ~4 weeks.

    • It really depends, I bought several things from Ali. I bought a fancy OTG cable that's as big as my toenail which arrived in 15~20 days, I bought a glass screen protector that arrived in around 30+ days. Talk to the seller about it?

      • +2

Thanks. I'll just get one from eBay. I don't think the $2 will bankrupt me. Oh wait, this is OzB :D

        • +1

OzBargain - where that $2 WILL send you broke.

It's kind of dodgy at check-out when the price becomes 0.29. It's no big deal but just weird.

    • According to Google

0.19 US Dollar equals 0.25 Australian Dollar

Maybe it converted it for you?

      • Nah, it shows up as $0.29 USD. I guess I can get it partially refunded (but at this price, might not go through the hassle)

  • Bought 3 of the white ones during the last deal, all 3 arrived brand new and functional. Took around 3 weeks. Bought the exact black-model as this current one on Ebay for a dollar; thought that was cheap but this puts things in perspective.

  • i remember buying a USB to 3.5mm plug in jack for a cheap price and then it didn't even work! it looks like another cheap 'made in China' product - even the metal in the USB connector strips look like it's bent! LOL wasted my $2!

  • +2

same as above, when checkout it display $0.29/pcs

    was USD $0.07 @ 7/May

  • Can't ship to the selected region! Also US 29c when I go to the checkout.

  • Thank you Altomic

  • anyone who got this, is it compatible with the Logitech usb wireless keyboards or mouse?
