Qantas Japan (NRT) Return: BNE $849. SYD, ADL, MEL $899. PER $1297. CBR $1117. Inc 30KG Luggage

160

Seems to be very cheap for Qantas and direct flights.

EDIT: Direct flights only for Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Travel periods are August to December 13 and January 17 to March 31.

Not too sure about the end date for the sale but it should be around the date I set.

" For card payments on international bookings at qantas.com, add A$30 for credit/charge cards or A$10 for debit/prepaid cards including Qantas Cashâ„¢, per passenger per booking."

  • Of the above, only BNE, SYD and MEL are direct flights.

    • Thanks, I put in details for Brisbane and thought it was the same for the other cities. Fixed now.

    • I think the Melbourne flight is via Sydney also.

  • Lots of dates, lots of seats for direct from Brisbane. Only a $10 fee for debit card purchase too. Non-refundable tickets so you'd need to make certain of your travel dates, but great prices. I've used direct Qantas flights to Japan a couple times and they were great.

  • Are these operated by Jetstar?

  • I had just recently gotten $920 return inc luggage meals etc from JAL mid sept direct. Return date was not in the peak discount period or would have been around $850.

JAL sale ended in May. Good to see another!

    • May I know the route? Are you departing from Sydney?
      Thanks.

sydney>narita 9.5 hrs direct sept 14 return on the 24th

apparently the sales ended end of may

        • Thanks Toshin. I've just missed the deal.

I booked JAL during the May sale, but some fares are even better now.

If you're in Perth, JAL prices are better than these Qantas fares.

January shows $820-850 return via Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur (or both).

      Also JAL includes 2 x 23KG bags.

  • Brisbane/Narita return Dec 13/31 $1130. I got the same Qantas ticket back in Feb for $1055 but this is still a good price for direct flights with top tier carrier. Jetstar fare is MORE, minimum $1138 for these dates and not even direct (not to mention all the other disadvantages that come with Jetstar!!)

      You mean deathstar?

If these are still flown by the old unrefurbished 747's, I recommend paying the $25 ea to pick your own seats if you are travelling with a partner. The plane becomes 2-4-2 rather than 3-4-3 at the back. If your select the pair seats at the back of the plane, there is a bit more room as the aisle is a bit larger, plus you get storage space next to the window. Good to put all your hand luggage and jackets and stuff for easy access, rather than under the seat in front or in the overhead.

    • A good site to check when booking is http://www.seatguru.com/ to find the best seat. Airlines sometimes use different types of planes on the same route but on different days so it pays to check and not accidentally end up near the galley on an overnight flight!

Better off paying the $100 or $200 and go JAL. Service is excellent.

  • How do these flights compare with Jetstar ones previously? Is it worth the $300-$400 price difference, in terms of budget vs fully serviced economy?

    • The price difference isn't that great when you add in the cost of having to take more than just hand luggage and taxes. I think mine worked out to be $790 p/p. However, going from Melbourne I will always take the Jetstar option because they have a direct, overnight flight (I forget which days it goes).
