        $6.95 (VIC Metro) - $9.95 is acceptable I guess

You think $19.90 for shipping a 39" guitar expensive? Especially for interstate customers? Crazy.

    Hi,
One reason for the cost is that the drive is being sent out via Australian Air Express. That means next day delivery to most major metropolitan regions. So you will get your drive really quickly. Also, Australian Air Express offers really good insurance on deliveries.

Also, the cost includes packaging and handling, and we really are careful to package these up as best as we possibly can. There is nothing so bad as receiving something through the mail that's not in A1 condition.

And these are heavy little beasties, close to 2kg or so. So that costs as well.

    cheers,
    ZazzMan

Dunno about the guitar, but shipping for HDD is too much

      From Australia Post:
      3KG Parcel Post Satchel : $9.90
      Express Post 3kg Satchel : $11.30

At least give customers the option to select a low cost shipping
      maybe based on state

      • have you ever try posting a HDD yourself?
find out how much shipping really cost?

  • LOL I misread the first deal (refurbished PC)for $39.95!

    Where's my ZAZZ PS3?? =D

  • Hey, I like the idea of a Zazz PS3! Sony are pretty hard bargainers, though.

It pays to read some of the fine print when it comes to Australia Post. Express Post is next day delivery, but only on their "next day delivery network", which isn't that extensive everywhere in Australia. I think it's great to be able to offer a similar delivery to people, no matter where they live.

If you base-price delivery at $11.30, that means on a $14.95 delivery fee we're charging $3.65 for packaging and handling. I would guess the p+h actually does cost us more than that. We really do think through the whole wrapping and packaging thing pretty thoroughly. We generally have one full-time person to look after this, but at this time of year (especially after Zazz Mania) we all pitch in to help.

In terms of offering different delivery options, it's just not really in the spirit of Zazz. We try to keep things as simple as possible. That's one reason why the overall pricing (thingy + postage) usually beats out other sources online.

So, you know, we're really not trying to sneak in an extra cost (unlike some of those TV infomercial products - "Only $9.95" then in a lower tone "Plus $29.95 postage and handling"). It's just honestly what this is going to cost us.

  • Hey everyone,

Thanks to a really great response to the PayPal promotion, we've run through all the marketing money PayPal provided, so we can no longer offer the $30 discount. At $120, the 1TB is still a pretty good deal, though.

    Thanks for the support,
    TZM
