These things just are plain annoying…I can't stand them. There's those other ones that start flashing half way through a movie and you have to touch the remote to turn it off. I never just walk out of a room and leave the TV on so it's pointless.
Biggest way to save money on electricity is to switch lights to CFL or LED and stop using tumble dryers and plug in electric heaters.
I got one for free from some pest knocking on my door, it's poor quality and I would not trust it with valuable electronic equipment.
