    Resolution: 1024 x 600

    For me a absolute dealkiller

    • I don't think it'll look any better with a higher resolution screen considering it is only 7inches in size

It does make a difference. Got a HP Tab at the same res and text looks fuzzy up close.

Though I have to wonder: what is the point of making a TV box with a screen? It has no batteries, so it needs to be connected to a power source and at that point you may as well be using the device with a LCD monitor.

        • I'm guessing it's mostly for the touchscreen as user input.

        • Pipo added the screen because it's actually cheaper than buying the $25 Windows license outright.

      • it is not much of a dpi thing - rather the real estate on the screen.
Have you ever tried using Office 2013 on 1024x768 screen?
Also most websites (non-mobile) are now designed with higher resolution in mind.
For some it could be ok, but I personally would not go under HD res.

For the most part this is a TV box and the display will be extended onto a TV in 1080p.

  • damn that is so cool…

    now thats innovation

      and a 8GB R9 295x2

  • What is that antenna for?

    • Wifi

    • Communication with aliens

  • technically this is only thing u need at home…its tablet..pc…tvbox…not sure if its innovation or just trying too hard

    • I'm guessing adding the screen was a cost saving measure as it may now qualify for a Windows 8.1 with Bing Tablet licence rather than the other licence type.

It is cheaper for them to make a TV box with screen (because they can classify the device as a tablet, allowing them to put Windows 8.1 Bing Edition on it for free). As for why it is bulky is because the screen is there to reduce the OS license cost so they have to get the cheapest LCD screen (TN screen). They need to raise it / tilt it at an angle to compensate the poor viewing angle.

    • Clever bastards… so no surprise then if the touch screen is really crappy and might fail within a few months of use, like some very cheap tablets do.

  • Just pre order from Gear Best…never fails!

  • it's in the shape of a door wedge…. may be another of its uses…

  • This looks like something from 1980 lmao!!

  • What about a remote? Just wondering how 'functional' this would be as a TV box for lazy ass people like me. I guess you would you need to use a wireless keyboard or is there something better? It's not packaged with anything like this.

    • if you want to use a wireless keyboard, you better buy the box only without the screen
