  • I think the $3.80 one at daiso would probably be better and I have a feeling you might be able to get it even cheaper off eBay..

    • I checked eBay and found no Xiaomi fans ;)

    • whats daiso? Do you have a link?

      • It's a 100yen($1.05) shop in Japan. (+8% sales tax) Amazing how much it gets marked up once it gets here.

        http://www.daisostore.com.au/
        It's actually $2.80.

        • or www.mydaiso.com.au for the Corporate stores :D better stock and bigger stores than the franchises (daisostore.com.au)

        • No it's actually $3.80.
          96% of their stuff is $2.80 but I saw a sign yesterday saying that they're "re-pricing some of their higher quality stuff" and there was a fan there which was $3.80.

          Back to this deal, this fan looks similar enough to me to save ~$3. I guess this is only better if you insist on having a pure blue fan.. otherwise surely they're all roughly on par for quality. Although OP you're right I can't find any xiaomi fans either.

          The daiso fan looked more like this one.

        • @illumination:
          Yes and no. $2.80 at Franchise stores and $3.80 at Corporate stores.

          Franchise stores are the only stores that still have everything $2.80

          whereas the Corporate stores have changed their price system to around 4% of store since April 1st, as you said. Can confirm coz I work there :3

          @DarkNexy: Ah right thanks.

          So how can you tell which ones are the franchise stores and which ones are corporate? I guess from a customer point of view, we would always want to go to a franchise store then?

          @illumination:

          Franchise stores are smaller and only at 5 locations in Australia (well all 5 in Victoria). These stores are mostly RED themed.
          Locations are Abbotsford, Box Hill, High Point, Bourke Street CBD, & Doncaster.

          Corporate stores are usually bigger with better variety of stock. These stores are mostly PURPLE or PINK themed. Interior is brighter.
          Better stock in my own opinion from a customer perspective when I am not working.
          Locations in VIC are Chadstone, QV, Flinders Street, Airport West, Dandenong, Caroline Springs & Craigieburn. And have expanded into NSW and QLD. The rest of the stores in Australia can be found here

          Conclusion on which kind of store to go to? My opinion.. whichever is closer to you. The markup on prices at Corp stores are more towards exclusive items with 200YEN+ logo on them, which adopts the a very similar price system as how DAISO in Japan work :)

    Reverse the spin and it will lift off. Xiaomi is starting to run out of good ideas and resort to these useless invention.

    • Perhaps, but it would be useful to carry around in places with high humidity. Particularly useful for those in China.

  • Bought one for the hell of it, and also bought this xiaomi powerboard/usb charger to charge my numerous xiaomi powerbanks :)

    • I am interested in the power board, let me know how you find it

      • +1

        I bought four of them on AliExpress, arrived about a week ago. They're good. The 3 power sockets have those annoying safety gate things that can be a bit difficult to get a plug in to, but hey, they'll probably save my life one day! The width of the board is such that a full size circular Australian plug hangs over the sides slightly. The 3 port USB charger works really well, charges very ~slightly~ slower than the fake 4 port Belkin B2E027 that I've been using for the last year. Excellent quality. Three power points and 3 USB points right here on my desk is really useful. Recommended. I will buy more.

        • Silly question, what plug does it have on the cord end?

        • +1

          @aim54x:

          They have a Chinese plug, which is exactly the same as an Australian plug but upside down! Chinese power points have the earth pin at the top, Australian at the bottom, but the plugs are completely interchangeable and fit perfectly. Chinese plugs have a longer earth pin just like Australian ones, but do not have insulation halfway up the pin as the new Australian ones do. Meh, I survived growing up in Australia without insulated pins, I don't think it's a biggie!

        • @douglasb: Thanks, I have always wondered which one because there seems to be a few different plugs in use over there.

    • "an artwork among power strips" lol.

      Have to admit, am intrigued though.

  • geekbuying any good ? whats a site that you can buy Xiaomi items that ship faster to AU ?

    • You can look at our past deals to see that they're trustworthy. Unfortunately issues do arise sometimes, but we try our best to resolve them. If you want them to ship faster to AU then DHL might be best, otherwise free postage takes ~3 weeks.

      • You told me that you weren't associated with geekbuying. What does "but we try our best" mean?

        • I now post all deals on behalf of the Geekbuying reps. That is why I'm marked as associated, but I am not employed by them.

          Edit: To clarify even further. All deals I post and any issues people have are sent directly to Geekbuying staff.

    • Fake DHL tracking number scam (same tracking number sent to lots of customers, one signs for it, they use that as 'proof' that the item was delivered to all of the others, there's no chance of getting your money back because delivery is 'proven').

      Mushtato is local, and good. They don't seem to have the fan yet, though.

      • Plenty of people have had no issues with DHL before, but like all stores, issues occasionally pop up. I tried my best to get your issue resolved, but you didn't want to cooperate.

        • Rubbish. You weren't involved with my issue at all. You even went as far as to say that you weren't associated with them.

          You seem to spend a lot of time defending a company that you insist you're not associated with.

        • @douglasb: I have stated that I am Associated with them on many occasions. I even made a forum post about it before I posted my first GB deal here. If I'm not associated then why do I have an Associated tag?

          Edit: I went back to the post. I stated I was not a Geekbuying Rep, as in Store Rep.

  • Not a deal. USD$3.70 shipped on AliExpress for the next two days.
