I look forward to using this once, then getting really annoyed at how difficult it is to clean and never using it again. Into the cupboard of shame you go - along with the food processor.

I bought mine about 2 years ago… still haven't used it. It's in the cupboard with the bread maker, the slow cooker, the deep fryer, the blender, the…

      • what about the nutri-bullet ?

        • Bought something similar… in the cupboard. I don't bother looking in there any more to see what other crap I've bought and never used. :(

I bought this slicer about a year ago for around $50.
It works really well actually, but as enviroguy mentioned it's not easy to clean, so only worth it when you need to slice a lot of vegetables.
And be careful with the blades, they are extremely sharp.

    • +1 on the sharp blades. I put mine through the dishwasher, cleans it a treat. Had it for a few years now, use it every couple of weeks, blades still razor sharp. Very handy tool.

i have a white one and it's very easy to see when you've sliced through your flesh (the blades are very sharp and you see blood before you feel anything), i guess this red one defeats that.

  • I would recommend a Benriner slicer over these v-slicers. The Benriner gives you almost infinite control of the thickness of your slices. It's also no frills, japanese razor sharp (with easily detatchable blades), and the straight edge blade gives a much cleaner cut than the v-edge.

As much as people argue that a knife can do the job just as well, for doing larger batches/servings of salads, coleslaws, potato galettes etc. a good mandoline can't be beat for consistency and speed.
