Interested if available in Sydney. Please let us know when you find out more.

    • +1

Just been to the Sydney Store. Its available for sure!

They open at 9:00 and the gentlemen from the store told me they didnt really have queues last time (in March) and that they did over a 100 that day although advertised for first 50.

Also he clarified its replacement of the whole unit (LCD + Glass + Digitiser) and they are only charging the labour, parts are free.

But.. he said do come early as this time they might just stop at the 100 units :/

    • In the queue. . Sydney. . Long queue. definitely more than 100 already :/

  • +3

Damnit, Brisbane gets screwed again! :(

    • -7

i need my screen repaired as well! oh well guess i won't be upgrading to a samsung next month if this is how they treat there customers

      • +5

Their their, their their, it's going to be OK.

    • +6

at least you get nice weather.

      And floods

    • Dammit, Canberra also gets screwed again - as well! :(

      • +2

Yes yours is valid, you have politicians to blame for that… ;)

  • bugger… just paid $80 last weekend for a replacement screen on my S3

    • worst screen (for breaking) EVER!

      • Well, it has survived for me pretty well till my son decided to drop it from the shopping trolley, and it only affected the glass.

        • 1 believe 1 of about 8 people i know who had this phone didn't break the glass…amazing.

        • That sounded like the inevitable happened. Only give a kid a phone if you want them to drop it ;-)

      • +2

Broke my friends galaxy s3's glass and tried fixing it myself. Broke the lcd, -$15. Bought an lcd assembly, -$125. In changing it, I cooked the logic board… Bought him a new moto g for 200. Never touching one again.

        • For future reference - remove broken glass quickly using hair dryer and a playing card.

Heat the glass with the hair dryer and slide playing card under the glass (at the corner) and slowly push/work it under while heating until it's completely removed the glass.

Clean the screen with some isopropyl alcohol and affix new glass.

Really should only take about 5 - 10 mins.

      • @wisc
Eh. Mine survived about 14+ months and a dozen proper drops (including onto concrete/tiles) before finally getting a couple of nice cracks. Still perfectly usable - hasn't broken up into a million pieces like I've seen on other phones.

        • still broke! :P

        • @wisc:
You say 1 of 8 people you know who had an S3 didn't break the screen. I would say that around 1 of 8 people that I know that have a smartphone haven't broken the screen.

        • @Osprey06:

fair call, but the only phone I've broken so far (and so quickly) was the s3… same with the rest of my work mates. and from like a foot from the ground too!

dropped my s2 and nexus 5 like 1 million 5 hundred and 56 thousand 7 hundred and 13 times!

        • @wisc:

If you're dropping the phone that many times, unless it's trying to break a world record, might be time to see a doctor ;-)

        • @daydream:

yeah I did, he said I was pretty skilled keeping track of dropping the phone 1 million 5 hundred and 56 thousand 7 hundred and 13 times.

        • +1

@wisc: They should have an app for that ;-)

    • Glass only? or LCD? I am looking for LCD replacement but cheapest seems to be $200ish

  • +19

I'll be shattered if I miss out on this deal.
But limited deals like this aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Deals like this should be fully transparent and no sharp catches.

    • +1

      Boooo!

      That was pun-tastic.

  • Heard the radio commercial too, it said Highpoint and Melbourne Central for the first 100 customers.
I'm assuming they mean the first 100 at each store.

    • First 100 customers each store

  • -1

Nothing for us kids in the south east Melbourne area :(
Do we know that Highpoint + MC are the only places?

  • Is it for tablets too?

    • Only mobile phones for the $55 deal.

      • Can you confirm if Screen actually means screen? i.e. not the piece of glass which sits on top of the LCD?

I am hoping Samsung means screen when they write it unlike all the repair promos which dupe you by saying "cracked screen repair" while meaning glass/digitiser only

        • This promotion only applied for most of the Galaxy and Note product.
Please see this photo for more info

          http://i.imgur.com/sBKiMqr.jpg

I confirm this is wholely screen replacement, not just only either glass or OLED replacement.

  • +1
    • The link doesnt really confirm its LCD replacement.. its just someone's comment..?

      • oem screens from samsung are always glass + oled panel, they dont stock or supply gorilla glass by itself. That's why a cracked gorila glass always cost $300 from them

      • This is a ln actual display replacement inclusive OLED panel, digitizer and glass.
It would include the bezel for model before Galaxy S5 and Note 4.
Any models begin from Galaxy S5 and Note 4 may be further charged for bezel, housing if it'd required.

How much is it normally to get a screen repaired there? 200? 250? It might be worth posting your mobile down to a friend to get it fixed for you. Last time they ran this offer they said they would do the first 50 or something but did it for the whole day.

    • +1

      More than $55
I was quoted $180 to repair my Samsung S4 (digitizer+Glass) by a repairer in South Yarra and that was already a special price

      • $231 for Galaxy S3, S4
        $269.50 for Galaxy S5 and S6
Get your luck by queue the line ealier tomorrow

        • I was the first one @ Melbourne central… A girl took photo as well. I don't know whether they are going to publish it anywhere ;)

Within 30 min I got call for handset collection…

      • Yea I thought so. So worth posting down to Melb if you have a mate who will stand in line for you! =)

        Not me though :/

  • assuming it opens at 10 like they normally do on a sunday?

  • Was keen until I read first 100. :(

    • I am sure thats not a hard and fast rule.. they will do it more than that I think

  • +1

How many people will rock up at 9am? I'm not gonna have to wait for hours before just to be in the first 100 am I? Lol very tempting to go fix my S5's screen! Not really worth it at $230

    • I'm not really sure in Sydney but there will be around 20 people's at 9 o'clock.

  • +1

Another option: buy a screen on ebay and install it yourself for under $30. I've ordered one to fix a Samsung galaxy mega phone for $18. It will come with the tools needed and a stylus.

    • +1

But if this also replaces a broken LCD, it will be well worth it, because a digitser+LCD are about 150$ on ebay.

    • +2

I highly doubt that's the cost for it inclusive of the LCD/LED Screen. I think that's only the Digitizer and Glass.

      • You only pay $55 for an actual new screen. Only applied on Saturday 9 May 2015

      • Yes, it is only the glass and digitiser and as I've found out, the lcd is firmly bonded to the cracked glass so very hard to separate without breaking it, which I've done. I'll now need to get an LCD plus the glass screen (effectively a single screen assembly) to repair the phone. So, $55 was a great deal.

  • I was quoted $250 at Highpoint to fix my Note 3 screen.
    $55? Winning!

  • I tried to fixed my S3 cracked screen and ended up with a black screen (screen doesn't lit up anymore but still working as I touch the screen and I have response). Not sure if this offer will fix this.

    • sounds like you may have unplugged the LCD when you where fixing the screen, either that or the LCD is dead… LCD and digitizer are separate.

      this deal wont fix it.

      • well maybe i was wrong, from the below (see RSM associated comment) it seems as if its a new screen too, so your good to go if your LCD is damaged…(although they may not like you opening it previously)

  • Why you no galaxy nexus or s2?

  • +1

Hmm.. I am sure there will be queues…. :( I will just go down there now (Sydney) and see the staff to verify if they would really only do the 100 ;) Fat chance they might tell me otherwise… hold your breath….

  • Any idea if they will replace:

    a) A non-genuine screen that's cracked, and

    b) Rooted, Knox tripped phone with custom ROM?

Sadly the T&C are not listed online, only in store.

      • Surpising, as the only reason a non-genuine screen is in there is because the genuine one cracked. But I'll take your word for it as I haven't the patience to take the risk.

    • Does it turn on? If not, they wouldnt find out until its too late.. I think you will get the new screen anyway..

      • Phone's all functional. Even though the replacement screen/digitiser I put on was advertised as genuine, I have my doubts due to its ease of cracking.

        • +1

If I were you, I would still try.. May be drain out the battery before you go :) cause this has nothing to do with warranty, so that should be fine..

    • +1

      Hi Janko,
Non-genuine screens/parts also means the phone has been repaired by unauthorised 3rd party. So there is no guarantee that the other parts on the phone are genuine.
In case of KNOX void warranty, rooted will be not cover.
It would cost you nearly or may over the price of new phone because we have to replaced all of components.
      Regards,
      Tom

      • +1

Thanks Tom - I feel better I didn't bother trying and it makes sense why you don't do the replacement. The screens are too easily cracked and too expensive to replace to consider paying more than $55.

        • +1

Yeh. You're right. Easily crack is an disadvantage compared to LCD even just 0.1mm cracked on lower layer of the screen. Also because the screen much thinner than LCD.
It won't happen on galaxy S6 edge because they use flexible AMOLED display.

        • @lovebaby178:

That's good to know about the S6 - I was thinking abandoning the Galaxy line because I can't trust I won't fall asleep again reading an ebook on it and wake up with $300 worth of damage.

  • my kid broke my 48 inch Samsung tv last week. wish they did TV screen replacements!

    • +1

time for a 58 inch Samsung!!!!

    • +1

Pretty sure they do. Just not for $55.

  • To clarify - "Screen Replacement" includes; LCD/LED/display, touch screen, glass.

So yes, a several hundred dollar part for just $55, serviced within store.

Just a note; this is hyping up fairly quickly so please bear with us on the day :)

    • +1

From your wording means it is not limited to 100 then? :)

      • Dont pick on nice people :) they might change their mind…

  • Yesssss!

I had my screen replaced last service day and cracked the screen 2 weeks ago.

    First world problems….

    • +3

Never seen someone, so happy to have cracked their screen before… Lol

  • -2

My screen is not broken. But I've always hated my white Note 3. Do you reckon they'll change the front face for me? I can even supply the front face…

    • So why'd you buy it?

      • +1

For $350 brand new back in early 2014 would you say no?

        • if I hate a product, unless I'm trading it for a profit I don't see the point of weather it's cheap or not

        • +1

          @aurotaro:

The colour mate not the product

    • Sorry mate, you're unable to change original colour of the phone if you want service at Samsung stores.

  • First 100 or whole day event? I hope not to be the 101 person.

Recall people saying it ran whole day, as they still accepted more than 100.

Also I think if you run a custom ROM you better flash it back to stock else don't won't do it for you

I missed out last deal really want to get on this one with cracked S3

  • I have just sent my phone to repair through vodafone store as I have been having flickering screen issues and just rang them up to find out what the status of it and they said that the device had been rejected to be repaired under warranty as lucky me dropped it 2 days after I went to the store but did not give it to them as i had not backed it up so i took it home and find out there is nothing to backup and 2 days later i drop it and there is a small crack in the corner. how lucky.

it gets worse, vodafone will send me the phone back but i won't get it back before sat where i will miss out on this.

Just rang the store and their customer service level is so unpleasant (my main reason to not go for another samsung) and they said they can't book it in for me for another day even if I am one of the first 100.

oh well, tough luck i guess from all aspects.

    • thanks mate - ticked 2/3 boxes. wont brother

    • +2

how would they know if you ran a custom ROM and why would it matter for a screen!?!? its not like its even a warrantee repair either!

        • +1

Just say no and you have no idea waht is download mode never used it.

          I'm new to Samsung

        • I worked for Telstra in the past and Samsung supplied a custom laptop with their recovery software on it for the repair technicians. The software could detect a rooted phone automatically. I imagine they use the same software in their stores. If your phone has been rooted there's no point trying as they can easily tell even if you restore.

          1. This Offer excludes any warranty or out of warranty repair of any description which is separate to, in addition to, or
unrelated to, a Screen Replacement. Warranty repairs may be performed by a Samsung authorised service centre in
accordance the terms of each Participating Product's warranty (as applicable) but are separate to Screen
Replacement repairs performed under this Offer.

This is clause number 5 of their terms and conditions which to my understanding is they shouldn't care if your phone is under warranty or not but instead their main job is to replace the screen.

Rooted phone voids warranty but they should still replace the screen under this offer.

    • i wish i could have read it….waited in queue for 2 hours, to get told its international version and offer doesn't apply to it….but they gave this nice free water bottle and a flash drive with micro usb, so it was not that bad..

  • Sweet. Might get my limited s3 fixed now. Kinda ran over it by accident as I didn't realize that it fell out of my pocket in the driveway and I reversed over it.

Still synched to kies so its main board is still good, just need the amoled, digitizer, glass replaced at front and a rear glass for camera.

I was quoted 240 plus possibility of costing 320 this will save me heaps.

Doesnt say has to be Australian model… are you sure about that?

    "Participating products" S3 (i9300)

    • i9300 and i9300T are the Australian models. Pretty sure imports are not accepted. I got mine from Vodafone so its local for sure

    • Your phone must be from Australian stock which could get from contract or purchase outright in order to get service at Samsung Australia.
Bring your purchase receipt or confirmation from carrier when come to the store for service/repair

  • Great find! Just wondering would this include the brezel??

    • +1

I'd like to know as well. My note 3 screen is delaminating and frame is beaten up

      • After screen replaced the SIM card no longer recognised

I'm now trying to get this sorted and its causing lots of drama.

The phone is no longer usable, everything is NO SERVICE.

No one picks up the call @ George St, don't bother. I'm going ACCC for this one if they don't do anything.

Phone appears to have its IMEI changed, and its invalid for Australia region

        They did something really dodgy

  • And this costs 50yuan in China every day, equivalent to $10.

    • +1

No warranty though… Also you have to travel to China…
