Cheap, but long postage times. It took exactly 1 month for them to get mine to me.

    • +3

Yep… bought mine 27th March and still waiting

      • I bought it on same data, still hasn't arrived as well.

        • Same here

        • Same here.

Still haven't even got a shipping email.

mine just arrived now! authenticity confirmed!

      • Bought mine 31st March and still waiting

        • It just arrived! I need to try venting more often.

      • So one month still nothing. Think I will give it a miss.

      • Just got mine!

Looks like whinging about it helps hahaha

    • dont know why you have to wait so long, every thing if ordered of them eg, two diferent quad chopter, XIAOMI power bank, jumpers. everything has come within 2-3 weeks max to melbourne

  • +2

thanks, grabbed one to power my raspberry pi a+ (1w power) wonder how long it could run it for.

  • Actually found it a few bucks cheaper at DHGate.com. Only $15.39
    Ships from Hong Kong.

Anyone bought from these guys before?

Looks fake from the picture. I have a genuine one, and in the picture the font colour, thickness and case is way too shiny relative to the matte finish of the genuine one to list a few differences.

    • +1

See comments below. Good chance this may not be genuine.

    • +1

Genuine Xiaomi Powerbanks only comes in 5000, 10400 and 16000 mAh sizes…
DHGate shows 4800, 6000, 8000 and 10400. They don't come in 4800, 6000 and 8000 sizes.. Can't say anything but fake for sure.

      • That's incorrect, xiaomi power banks also comes in 5200.

  • Or you can also get it's big brother for a few bucks more. $26.61 :)
They have the Mi logo, so hopefully they are genuine.

    • +1

It says in the review section of this that it is not genuine.

      • Yes. Good catch. Stands to reason their other units are also non-genuine.

  • I have a Samsung S4, how many charges could this get me?

    • +2

I'd guess 3-3.5 as the S4 has a 2600mAh battery. You'd never be able to get the full 10400mAh as the current will most likely drop as the battery discharges.

    • Yeah I think about 3x.
It's got a slightly smaller battery than the Mi 3 but larger than the iPhone 5S.

You can also buy the more powerful model for a decent price. $32.47
The nice thing with this is that you can charge 2 devices at once.

I've got it and it's awesome but it is quite big and bulky. Just something to keep in mind when buying that.

  • Thank you. Will give this a try

  • It shows $17.79US for me. Am I missing something?

    • +1

That appears to be the price for the Gold coloured case, the lower price is for the Silver coloured case.

If this is your first XIAOMI, I'd highly recommend one of these….This will protect the charger, and more importantly prevent the sharp hard edges of the charger damaging anything it comes into contact with.

  • I got a Maha Pops AA Portable Charger, put 4 x AAs Eneloops works fine just need to charge batteries besides if I run out or batteries don't hold charge I can just swap to another set of eneloops…

So other than 2000Mah x 4 which is 8000Mah, and bit bulky, how is this Xiaomi better?

    • Eneloops are 1.2V.
Xiaomi and most other powerbanks use 18600 lithium ion 3.7v batteries.
LSD NiMH vs Lithium-Ion, different chemistry.

      • So that would mean with 4 Eneloop batteries, it'll be 4.8V in total? But yeah, it then comes down to the different types of battery

        • Yeah but the thing is once Xiaomi is out then it's out completely. Where as AAs are common and supposedly eneloops have longer life. Easily replaced.

I thought that's more cost effective and AAs can be used for many things. You could even buy AAA to AA adapters if you like but suffer less voltage and capacity.

          More environmental friendly isn't it?

        • @neonlight:

Where as AAs are common and supposedly eneloops have longer life. Easily replaced
The Xiaomi doesn't require a separate charger to charge the cells in it.

Your eneloops require a different charger.

          More environmental friendly isn't it?

Both are rechargeable, yours requires a pre-req of an eneloop charger, a good quality one costs $30+ just for the unit? Not sure why it would be more environmentally friendly for someone who doesn't own eneloops (I do, but some people don't)
There's a reason why most modern cameras do not use AA batteries anymore, and use smaller compact Li-Ion battery packs instead.
I didn't get the hype that's been on ozbargain about eneloops (fell for the ozbargain Eneloop hype, and was disappointed. SSDs however are 100% worth it)
Eneloops aren't really that mindblowing if your modern electronics have all switched to Li-Ion batteries, I only use eneloops in my flash units for my cameras. Everything else uses cheap fujitsu AA/AAA batteries (thanks DSE!) in my household, bought 30 x 10AAs for $0.80 per pack + $4.95 flat rate delivery. I COULD have bought 2 more packs of eneloops ontop of my 3, but then I wouldn't have 300 ready-to-use AA batteries.

          @nanoronline:
Only if it's connected in series, which the Xiamis and similar powerbanks based off Li-Ion are not (usually parallel)

See the following link on dissection of a Xiaomi
          http://en.miui.com/thread-24153-1-1.html

According to the battery configuration, looks like it might be series.
          http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/bigclothcraft/maha-pops02_d.jpg

I haven't studied any electronics or be bothered to, but
          - 4x Li-Ion 3.7V 2600MaH [parallel] vs 4x LSD NiMH @ 1.2v 2000MaH [series?]
          - Eneloops require secondary charger (which if you own Eneloops, we will assume you have one) + Xiaomi doesn't require one.

        • @cwongtech:

Well I guess the most important thing is we do not know how long this Li ion battery would last and unsure of its quality and capacity because a lot these power packs in real use are no where as they claim to be especially the China ones.

Even eneloops from China are not great, so with AAs at least I can "control" what I'm using, plus with a decent charger like the maha one can test if the LSDs are still good or not. With this Xiaomi unsure after a year it might be no good anymore and goes to the pit directly. Same reason why I don't buy landline cordless phones with their proprietary Li ion battery packs.

I don't think it's all that difficult to carry extra AAs as I need. Plus you can put those cheap Fujitsu AAs if you are desperate. So much more flexible. Whereas Xiaomi you have to charge at mains once it's run out. Cause you can't swap out the battery same concept as non removable battery smartphone

          @neonlight:

I guess you didn't read the dissection of a Xiaomi 10400mAh..

          3) 4 x LG or Samsung 18650 Lithium Ion 2600mAh battery cells
          - Arrange in parallel setting with maximum voltage of 3.7-4.35V.
          - As batteries arrange in parallel setup, 4 x 2600 mAh = 10400 mAh.
          - Similar battery cell as in Tesla car's battery pack, which is the lowest cost Li-ion battery form.

Did you know, the 18600 cells form a lot of the standard laptop battery packs, and there are people salvaging 18600 lithium-ion cells from old laptop battery packs? Going off that, we can expect at most 10-20% battery wear over a year. We know their brand, quality and capacity.
We don't know how long eneloops will last either, even with accelerated testing (found on candlepowerforums), as everyone's usage pattern varies, and not everyone charges and discharges the same AA 500 times continuously.
It is also found on CPF, turnigy LSDs are comparable to eneloops, and are usually cheaper when you buy in bulk, compared to your DSE Eneloops. Turnigy LSDs have 2400mAh minimum for AA, with a slightly expensive one at 2550mAh, where as your standard Eneloop is rated at 2000mAh.

So much more flexible. Whereas Xiaomi you have to charge at mains once it's run out.

I weighed the eneloops a while back, from memory they're about 24g, where as the turnigy LSDs are about 28g.
Also, you can charge the powerbank at any computer (which in this day and age is not THAT hard to find), but then if you can find a computer, you might as well charge your phone. However, you can't charge eneloops at a computer.. unless you bring the charger with you.

I found this formula on the net:
          E = mAh x V / 1000 = Wh (watt hours)
          Xiaomi|E = 10400mAh x 3.6V/1000 = 37.44Wh @ 250g (quoted spec)
          4AA.Std.Eneloop@2000mAh|E = 8000mAh x 1.2V/1000 = 9.6Wh @ 96g (not including weight of plastic casing of the charger)

As you can see, energy per gram carried is higher for a Xiaomi powerbank, even if you want to swap out the standard 2000mAh Eneloop for a 2400mAh or even a 2550mAh LSD NiMh battery. Eneloops require a charger, so it would be $15 (Eneloops from DSE) + ($30+ for the charger) to get 8xAA, not including the cost of the maha pops, compared to $20.77 for the XiaoMi. Food for thought.

    69th like for banggood :)

  • +1

It's good in terms of pricing and the capacity you get. But how's the performance after a long period of usage?

I thought the main feature of Eneloop batteries is that they have more cycles of discharge and recharge. Has this Xiaomi powerbank been out long enough to know if its cycles are worthy to be compared with Eneloop?

    • I wonder the same as well not sure what the difference is really. For the batteries that don't hold charge so well I can re purpose to day TV remote or other means until they are no good anymore

  • I'm new to this power bank. Just wondering can this 10400mAH power bank deliver enough current to power up and run apps on an iPad or iPad2 while the iPad/2 has a FLAT battery ? And what kind of cable do I need to power up/charge an iPad/2 with this power bank ? Thanks in advance.

    • It can charge my iPad 3 to about 80% from completely flat so yes, it can deliver enough current (same as from a powerpoint).

You can just use your normal USB cable and plug it into the USB port on the power bank.

      • Thanks cooldude123. While your iPad3 with a flat battery is being charged using this power bank can you run apps on your iPad3 at the same time ? Thanks in advance.

        • If charging completely from flat, there's about a 1-2 minute delay while it shows the charging symbol on a completely black background (and the iPad is unusable then), but afterwards you can run any app and your power bank will provide enough power to do so (will make it slightly slower though).

        • +1

Thanks a lot, cooldude123, for your comprehensive info, much appreciated. That's exactly what I need to find out.

      • Why is it only to 80% mind explaining this?

        • The iPad's battery is 11560mAh and the efficiency of the powerbank is rated at 92% (which means roughly that it has a capacity of 92% of the rated spec of 10400 = 9568mAh).

80% of the iPad's battery is roughly around 9250mAh, so it's around about the manufacturer's spec and what I'd expect from the power bank.

        • +1

@cooldude123: Thanks again, cooldude123. So, sounds like the manufacturer's spec on the power bank is pretty spot on.

  • Just bought it and also the Xiaomi LED Light as per other post. Both on paypal totaling $24.20 AUD

I used cash rewards as well.

    • Never had experience with banggood I heard they have slow postage unsure about their service and returns of DOA

    OK,
I have used Banggood, and it took 5 weeks for my Tablet to arrive, came from China, but long shipping comes with cheap prices. Hope the power bank arrive quicker.

In regards to the power bank, the GENUINE Xiaomi 10400 uses either panasonic or sanyo lipos, as opposed to other power banks that use chinese made lipos. Reports are that the Banggood are genuine. There are lots of dissections on the Internet of Xiaomi copies.

In regards to life span of lipos, they don't like to be run flat and kept that way. Not as robust at NIMH, our lipos packs more power for their weight and size, hence no mobile phone runs on eneloop. Also lipos self discharge more, you won't dust off a lipo after 2 years and use it.

These power banks are designed that you charge them up and keep then handy for when the tablet or phone goes flat.

I have ordered 2 of the powerbanks. I will keep charged one at the office incase phone or tablet looks sad as I leave work and forgot to charge (I train it home so lots of gadget time), one at home for in the car as my son forgets to charge and car charger stops when ignition is turned off. They are designed to be carried around in the back pack or brief case to supplement the batteries in devices which are small to keep weight and size down.

But being lipo they need the same battery maintenance as a phone, tablet, or laptop.
To store lipos for long periods of non use, there is s special storage charge cycle (sweet spot) that manufacturers use before shipping. I can see my Makita cordless tools batteries being useless by the next reno as most chargers don't come with a storage charge option, the one for my sons radio controlled models do.

I might have to set up a calendar for charge cycles of lipos (every 6 months) so I don'y over discharge and kill them.

My pentax uses AA envelop pro, always ready, my canon has lipos, often flat when I go to use it.

  • Delivery was slow, but these are great. Can't go wrong IMO.

ordered white usb led with Power Bank. Delivered today, but Pink! Much face lost, shame on family will ensue.

Still waiting for power bank, but it is saying shipped.

  • Still waiting for delivery from last offer …….. the delivery times are a killer.

  • I ordered the silver 10400 mAh power bank from BangGood on the 14th of April and it arrived in Brisbane today. I've also verified its authenticity.

  • Arrived today, well packed, looks genuine.

  • received mine today. i lol'd at the little micro usb cable.

It's not the size, it's what you do with it.
