  I recently purchased the Xiaomi Yi from aliexpress (for around $90 plus $12 dhl delivery), and have been using it for about a week now. My impressions are that the build quality is good, though as others have noted the plastic cover that hide the sd slot/usb/hdmi will probably get lost. The unit takes a while to start up, so if you're using it as a photo camera and want to take a quick shot you'd probably miss it. As for the video quality, fantastic - expect nothing less from the sony image processor. Definately GoPro Hero quality, even possibly better. There is a waterproof case that will be release this month, currently sellers are taking pre-orders and that will retail around 20 bucks or so. There is an Xiaomi android app for this unit, and apparently there will be an IOS apple app available sometime in April. To get the most out of the unit you really need to use the app as there is no live view screen built in. Speaking of which, when tethered via the inbuilt wifi to a phone with the app you see a lower resolution version of the video you're taking, it is slow and often jerky which is annoying. Anyhow that's my two cents on the product. Hope that helps.

    Yes, but there is currently no auto start so you have to push a button. Hopefully they'll add that option in a future firmware update. Also the date stamp will be upside down if you use a proper dash cam mount, that should get addressed soon.

    Xiaomi Yi Sport is the same thing. Some places sell it as Xiaomi Yi Sports Camera or Action Camera or Sports Action Camera.

  Would personally not purchase from Gearbest again. Two experiences, first one went off without a hitch, second and most recent experience was Preorder of Pipo X7 back in January, stock was never received, tracking details went cold and clearly showed stock not delivered.

  Dealing with Gearbest staff is a nightmare, the PayPal claim claim period has ended (my fault), seller banters back and forth refusing to refund and there's nothing else I can do at this point.

  Very disappointing for the regularity and size of seller.
