OMG GEISHAAAA!!!

We are proud to announce a new super specialty variant of Panama Geisha from Baru Indian Plantation. ( http://www.baruindianhigh.com/en/ )Geisha from Panama is well known for its quality.

The Anselmito Estate of the Baru Indian High coffee plantation is located in the Jaramillo region to the east of the Baru volcano and to the south of the central mountain range, providing the coffees with ideal growing conditions. The average temperatures ranges between 15 C and 22 C. Growing Geisha coffee is a very difficult process, one which requires a lot of time, money and hard work. The altitude at which the coffee is grown makes a difference in how it tastes in the cup. Generally very high altitudes are not good, because the cold cloud causes the Geisha sapling’s leaves to freeze, which slows its growth. To protect the growing Geisha coffee plants, the farmers allow the farm to over grow with weeds; which protects the Geisha saplings by forming a natural wall against the cold until they are strong enough to resist it.

    Wow, they grow at 150-200 degrees centigrade. What temperature is needed to roast the buggers!?

      "Growing Geisha coffee is a very difficult process"

    • lol sorry, that was a copy paste from our importer coffee facts emailed to us, it was meant to be the little 0 degree icon.

        Is it as good as the coffee that has been defecated by those Asian possums ???

        • +5

          Haha, luwak coffee you mean? Well, I dont and never support luwak coffee for starter. I tried once, and no, not close to the taste they are bragging about.

          Having animals in cage, over-fed with coffee is just disgusting practice.

          The story of luwak coffee and why it was expensive is this:
          Long time ago, the village people around sumatera used to gather some woods for cooking etc and they notice this luwak or the forest civets eating coffee fruits/cherry and they go from tree to tree and defecate. The poo contains coffee bean, and someone thought, well, its free coffee, i'll just gather the coffee beans from the poo, take them home clean them and roast them. So he did that, went around the forest and coffee plantation (owned by the dutch at that time) and looked for civets poo. Took them home, cleaned them, roasted them (he may know a thing or two about coffee processing or maybe he worked at the plantation) and wow…the taste he thought, was unbelievable.

          So he shared that founding to the dutch bosses who in turned, asked him to gather more poos for him and he told his dutch friends, and they all love the coffee taste then the dutch boss told them, hey u know what, that coffee you had came from the butt of a civet cat. First they thought it was ridiculous but to cut the story short, because it was such a unique and "special" and it was promoted among the richest of the dutch people there, so it became famous, went to Europe and all that but now? What Happen Now?

          They cage these animals, breed them and over fed them and force them to defecate every 30 min or so.

          So no, cant compare with Geisha coffee that. These specialty Coffees planted with Love. And we at Sweet Yarra Coffee perfect it in each of your cup! …With Love too of course :)

          @sweetyarracoffee:

          cant compare with Geisha coffee that.

          So the Geishas aren't over fed?

        • +1

          @sweetyarracoffee:
          I agree, had the poo coffee a few years ago - didnt think much of it, in fact no where as good as a decent bean from say you or manna beans.

          @PVA: thanks PVA we always try our best :)

    $99 per kilo for coffee is not a bargain

    • +1

      The price of this coffee is very high unfortunately, cant be compared to regular coffee. We have our regular coffee starting at $30 per kg delivered or $48.50 for 2 kg delivered if you are interested :)

        Should really clarify that my opinion was purely subjective and didn't want to neg because of that. Just don't know how someone can see value in paying that much for coffee. It's almost on par with paying 10k for an iWatch. Eitherway though goodluck to you and hope this sells :)

        • Thank you ;)

        • a bottle of red wine can be as low as $10 per bottle and can be as expensive as $125 per bottle just like penfold RWT

          Someone may say the same thing as you said but for others its pure enjoyment worth every dollar :)

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

          Correct. However note this…

          One time at our wine club we took all the labels off a few bottles of red. From $5 a bottle all the way up to a grange.

          Best tasting bottle hovered around $20. Grange came in at 2nd last…

          Moral of the story, price means nothing…

          @bemybubble:
          No worries, thanks for your information and if you re interested we still have our regular coffee starting at $30 per kg delivered :)

    • +1

      $99 per kilo for coffee is not a bargain

      It's delivered by Geishas though…

    • Agreed. I pay $12-$15 per 250g and think that's damn steep. Bugger paying $100 a kilo.

    Any pour over recommendations for the $48.50 2kg deal?

    • Try our yirgacheffe!
      For 2 kg, you can opt for 4x500 gram and try different coffees. I recommend brazil and yirgacheffe for pour over. Thanks for your inquiry

      • +1

        Thanks!

      • +1

        I just did this myself… looking forward to trying your coffee beans :)

        • Thanks Evil-Elmo, prepare to be surprised!

  • +1

    Sounds expensive.

    • If you want to search around and google around as we can say other business names for etiquette here you will see that our price per 250 gram is MUCH cheaper delivered. Geisha coffee has been advertised af 45-70$ per 250 gram not including delivery. So our price for geisha coffee is Way , a bargain :)

  • Don't think I can justify this coffee, but what are the other ones you have that are good for long blacks, machiatto's etc ?

    • Our brazilian and yirgacheffe are generally good for black coffee (pour over, espresso, cold drip) for blend try festive blend and/ or ashcotts

      Thanks for your inquiry

      The geisha is a coffee that you wanna try once at least in your life time :) (more if you enioy them and i am pretty sure you will)

  • I'll wait for the Inuit Maori Calabrian blend

  • what actually is Geisha? I see manna beans has four types for sale (more expensive than here)but I have no idea what it is or why its expensive.

      • No.. I JUST want to buy a sample of the coffee

        • +1
