I'd be interested in knowing who and why someone would neg your comment.
Negging comments, should be like negging deals - out in the open.

      • +1

To be honest, it doesn't worry me and I wouldn't have known except for your comment.
Maybe they thought I was dissing this deal, I wasn't and even + voted it.

        • +1

Yup, I don't even know why I checked myself haha :)
I still don't like how they can get away with it though.

        • @Giteau:

Takes all types, it what makes ozb good I guess.

        • @Giteau: gits. shouldnt you be in France?

Have this keyboard, works well for the lounge room

Asides from having the built in trackpad, is there much difference to a wireless keyboard? Would just a normal bluetooth keyboard work or does it have to be special to be used with the tv?

      • -8

I don't know how someone could use a computer to discover this website, create an account here and then make that post - yet does not already know the answer to that question.

There's nothing special about this keyboard that magically makes it work with a TV.

But the answer I believe you are looking for (if you are talking about a smart tv) is to look at the manual for your TV to see if it accepts bluetooth or HID over USB connections. If not, then you will need a device that does, such as an HTPC, to use this couch orientated keyboard with your TV.

I know plenty about computers don't you worry about that. I wasn't sure in terms of the necessary drivers if a smart tv would automatically accept a bluetooth keyboard.

        • More compact, less obtrusive in lounge room
        • Better signal (apparently, I have a small lounge room) to reach from lounge to entertainment unit
        • Backlit, so you can use in dark

Edit: to answer your question, any keyboard would in theory work. Having to use a normal mouse on the lounge can be a pain though.

        • Thanks for being a nice person steve :). Simply had a question, some people on here just like to post insults.

        You missed the joke.

        Bedroom <> Living-room.

        • +1

Oh! I did think that (Oops haha)

          @TheVoucherKing:

It's an easy joke to miss as it wasn't exactly funny :P

    Got one, thanks OP.

  • I have bought 4 of these various wireless or bluetooth keyboards for my media PC and 100% of them have been absolute dogshit in terms of quality receiving more than about 1 metre away.

    Be warned!

    • +1

Have you bought this one, though?
Cause I have and it's quite good. I use it about four metres away from the receiver and have no troubles.

      • -1

No, I've tried two wireless/radio ones and two bluetooth ones so I'm a bit burned out on giving any more a go since all four were rubbish.

Edit: I'm giving my own personal experience with this group of products. People can make up their own minds whether they want to try this particular one.

        • Wow, bad luck. Which ones have you tried? If you let us know then others could assess and avoid if/as appropriate.

I have tried quite a number myself including the best of which were the Logitech K400r and Rapoo E2700 but neither is backlit so this one wins for me. Haven't had any trouble with a reception from 3 meters. And, this one is not bluetooth so with no drivers necessary it works before the computer operating system boots (can even wake it up from sleep) though I don't know if it will work with Smart TVs and obviously won't for devices with bluetooth like tablets and phones.

        • @samlor:
          Logitech K400r

That was one of the shite ones.

        • @Oliver: That is not my experience or that of others and reviews online. 1 metre should not be a problem unless your environment is peculiarly challenging radio transmission wise or you have faulty equipment. Hope you are able to return/replace them.

    • Sucks that you have had this experience, but the Microsoft all in one media keyboard I got for something like $12 from that Microsoft cash back deal in January works a treat, even up to an estimated 4 metres away. Just make sure you plug it in the front of your HTPC, not the back.

  • +1

These are ideal HTPC keyboards. Indeed, Logitech developed them for that very purpose.

    • the harmony keyboard is even better! too bad they dont sell it in australia, and the price is not friendly at all.

  • How good is the trackpad, is it as efficient and using a mouse or only good for occasional use?
