That's assuming that the price does not get jacked up tonight before the deal starts.

    • The goodguys website does say Offer ends Sunday 12 April 2015. So will be very sneaky if they do…

      • +5

The price might stay as $788 at their own stores and online store, but not eBay store. Alternatively, they might just remove the listings.

Sorry to sound all negative, but I'm just speaking from past experiences with these sort of deals by other merchants (eg. Dick Smith, Officeworks). IIRC, The Good Guys was one of the better merchants. We can only hope that they continue to stay this way.

        • Given that it can be bought now with the promotion (even though it's VIP), this deal deserves the positive :)

  • +2

You need to put in the start date of deal mate, as is currently not valid.

    • for all starts tomorrow… vip with email invitation starts today.

      • what time?

        • +1

          thank you!
out of curiosity, does anyone know what criteria was required to get the email? i never seem to get any of those good emails :(

        • @milkguru: perhaps high spender on ebay, or one that has shopped these deals in the past. Both of which I would be included. I also never get the targeted discount codes. But I got this one which I am happy about!

  • +1

2% cashrewards is off the full price so cashback should equal $15.76

  • if you buy now, pay tomorrow, you get it at the price you buy it at

    • You have to pay as soon as you buy it unfortunately

  • try 'cvip24h' code for early access. said targeted invitation, but just try. might work

    • Linked to another account. Why post this? Can't use other code yet either and price may still change.

  • -4

Funny, you post up the new htc one m9 for a few hours and you get a few comments and a couple hundred clicks. You post a galaxy note 4 and you get a dozen comments and a couple hundred clicks in just over 30 minutes. This shows you how popular htc's new phone will be :)

    • +1

$300 difference might have something to do with it..

        • run along now little man.. the grown ups are talking

  • +2

CVIP24H is a targeted code and only those who got the email can use it.

  • That is a real steal for that price

    SM-N910U is Exynos and is for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and Chile. It supports FDD-LTE on the bands B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B4 (AWS/1700), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900), B28 (700) - Source

    SM-N910G is Snapdragon and is for Singapore, Sri Lanka and India. It supports TDD-LTE on bands 38 and 40, and FDD-LTE on B1 (2100MHz), B2 (1900MHz), B3 (1800MHz), B4 (1700MHz), B5 (850MHz), B7 (2600MHz), B8 (900MHz) - Source

    SM-N910F is Snapdragon for Europe. It supports FDD-LTE on B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B17(700), B20(800)

Why are most Australian retailers selling the SM-N910G version. I thought the Australian version is the SM-N910U which I prefer?

Anyone know where to buy the SM-N910U version where the 20% still applied?

    • I'm not sure about other cities, but I do know that band 40 is used heavily by Optus in Adelaide. The SM-N910G is the only version which supports this band.

I am surprised there is no Note 4 model which supports both band 40 and band 28. I would consider purchasing it if it existed.

      • SM-N910U version processor is Exynos. It ran faster than the Snapdragon.

      • optus user here too - much prefer the G version yeah

    • +2

A good buy however, according to my mate as well as this review, http://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-note-4-sm…, battery performance for oz version is quite questionable. Snap dragon has been notoriously known for its power drain. If our shores selling Exynos version, would buy in a heart beat but snap dragon, I probably pass.

      • I felt the same but now the price is at this price point it is hard to ignore. I may just sit tight until the note 5 come out and the "U" price drop to the $600 price point.

      • Why the neg? I'm just telling the nasty truth about this version of Galaxy. Would be still a good buy if you don't mind the power drain while lugging around battery packs. At the end of the day, your are making the decision!

        • +1

I got a new Note 4 a few weeks ago and have no complaints about battery drain, the gadget guy review said it had a 1 day battery and nothing about lugging around battery packs. I think you are exaggerating.

        • @Junk Collection: look at other people's comments below regarding the battery performance. I don't own this phone regardless, I'm just doing my homework and present to the ozb community to make an informed decisions. Otherwise, feel free to ignore my posts and move along.

        • +1

@cloudie9: what you mean the guy below claiming his Nexus 4 has better battery life?

      • +1

        Anandtech's battery tests say otherwise

"Unfortunately the battery disadvantage for the Exynos versions is quite large in our web browser benchmark. Here the Exynos comes out 79 minutes shorter than the Qualcomm version. I commented in the A57 page how bad Samsung's software power management is on the Exynos 5430 and 5433,"

        http://www.anandtech.com/show/8718/the-samsung-galaxy-note-4…

      • My wife had the U version bought from Costco and the battery life is outrageous. At the end of a days use there is still 75% left and that's with a metric shit ton of book face notifications and constant connecting with her galaxy gear fit.

My 1 yr old nexus 5 on the other hand has shut itself off at 7pm.

    • I believe the reason why most are selling the snapdragon is because it supports the TDD-LTE bands that the Exynos do not. This is used by Optus in some area of Australia.

  • +1

Also the SM-N910U has Wolfson audio. Sounds excellent if you have a pair of high end IEM's

I tested it out with a pair of UE900's

Heaps better than any snapdragon audio

    • There is also more development at XDA for the SM-N910U.

  • +1

Does anyone think they'll put the galaxy s6 on preorder. The base price for 32gb (best price Australia) galaxy s6 is $999 (Dicksmith, leaked pricing) which is better than htc retail pricing but being able to discount it 20% off would be awesome.

    http://ausdroid.net/2015/03/27/retail-pricing-for-the-32gb-6…

    • Wishful thinking I reckon

  • Would this sale drop the Samsung Galaxy tab s 10.1 grim $508 to $406 after 20% off or will they bump prices back to full RRP before sale starts?

  • Ordered one, but don't actually need one. Now I need to think about what to do with it.

  • +1

i want one! but didn't get the email!

  • Can also get an LG G3 16gb (from kogan) for around $400 with this sale.

    • +1

Honestly just don't do it. I'm on my second, soon to be third brand new one now. Displays just keep dying!

      • Damn. That's sad as :( just as well I can't afford it. Will stick with my nexus 5 with cracked screen!

  • -2

    Nvm..someone explained. Great price!

  • stay away from this phone. I bought one from the last sale, which I regret. Very poor battery life, very slow after a,few weeks use.. Would go back to LG G2, much much better.

    • +3

really, I thought the note line had good battery life.

      • -4

Doesn't last 2 days under heavy usage.

        • +8

Which phones last two days from heavy usage?

      • +3

It actually has a really good battery life. Don't know what nj8842 is on about.

    • Did you try to drag people out of interested? I'm gonna get this for sure.

  • +3

I researched about the battery life and many people complaining that they are getting around 3hrs screen on time (with light use) and the most you can get is 6 hours screen on time (with lowest brightness, no syncing etc).
I will stick with my old nexus 4.

    • +1

I average 5 hours SOT with heavy usage. (Dropping to around 20%)

I have three Google accounts constantly syncing (emails and calendar)
      Clash of clans
      Facebook
      Ozbargain
      Onenote
Spotify during the trip to and from uni

Also use data more than WiFi

      • +1

I'm not bashing note 4 but for a flagship model, I expect better battery life. For other flagship models such as IPhone 6plus and Sony z3 goes about 10-11hrs screen on time.

        • That's better than my iPad air 2

        • Yeah I agree with the Z3 being a beast in battery haha

Don't like the new emphasis on quick charging… Rather more longer lasting battery

    • Lol what? Note 4 has one of the best batteries of any phone.

      • I think a lot of the awesome battery life benchmarks have been with the exynos variant, I'm afraid :(

  • -4

i only want to pay 150… no more than that…

  • -8

    Conditions says
20% discount (capped at $500) off the purchase price of Tech for up to 3 transactions (excluding postage)

    if Max Discount is $100

Price will be down to $688

    • I think the cap is on the discount/saving amount itself, not the original price of the product. ie you can save up to $500 on a $2500 spend, but above $2500 it's capped at $500.

    • Well you already just stated capped at $500, then why is max discount $100?

  • For people lucky enough to be VIP (or if price doesn't change tomorrow), is there any reason to get the edge for $680 from DSE instead of this one? I never really saw the point, but for all I know people might love it.

    • Isn't the Edge $850 at DSE or am I missing something? Either way the reviews of the Note 4 edge vs Note 4 still put the Note 4 in front of the Edge as an allround phone as far as I can tell. I've been researching the Note 4, m9 S6, S6 edge and Note 4 edge and I'm going the Note 4.

      • VIP codes were given to certain accounts to access the 20% off early, meaning that the $850 current price with the 20% discount for those with VIP code brings it down to $680

        • +1

          Roger that, thanks.

  • Guys any news on when galaxy s6 will be available here in Australia? need to upgrade. My voda plan but not sure which one to go for.s6 have quite Nice review compared to HTC.m9 though.

    • Should be available April 10th.

Galaxy s6 looks like a great phone. The integration between the OS and processor will make for a more fluid refined experience.

HTC One m9 doesn't look like much of an upgrade from the m8.

You should also consider the Z3 and Note 4 which are also good phones.

  • -2

You can't use two codes for one item. You can only use either CVIP24H or CTECH20.

  • So can I just Buy it Now and then insert the coupon number tomorrow? or do i have to buy it after 8:00am?

    • +1

All big retailers requires instant payment, so there is no way buy now and pay later.

      • Ah okay thanks for that!
Reckon this will sell out fast if the price doesnt change?

  • +1

Nice… picked one up tonight with the VIP code.

Let's me sleep in tomorrow :)

  • HOLDDDDDDD UP so this is the G version.. doesn't support the new 4GX/Optus 4G @ 700mhz band?

So retail shops sell the G version = doesnt support 700mhz, but telecom companies distribute ones that support 700mhz?

    • This one does support 700. It doesn't support TDD 2300mhz, so I don't think it'd be much of a problem other than people in Canberra.

  • pickup note 4 edge from dse ebay $681.36 after the vip code :) pick up tomorrow from dse :)

    • hmm mate note 4 edge might be better

      • He did get a Note 4 Edge?

Unless you mean you are deciding between the two?

  • Is this the same model bring currently sold by Telstra that supports 4GX? Or do Telstra sell the 910U model?

  • +2

Thanks OP. Just bought a black Note 4 from TGG.

    • same. had to set my alarm for 4.50am!

      • 4:45am for me in Perth ;)

    • same here! Black Note 4 from TGG @ $630 - Thanks!

      • $615 assuming Cash rewards works if you went via that link - which I did.

        • haha nup - didnt realise there was a link for it. had thought it was automatic, as when i tried on saturday the link was useless. didnt realise it started sunday

woke up only after a couple of hours sleep to do this :/ i should be happy i even managed to get up at all

  • +1

    Don't forget to get the
    Samsung EF-CN910BWEGWW Galaxy Note 4 S-View Case.

    • Can't decide if I should get this one. It looks nice but I have read it doesn't provide great protection if you drop your phone

      • Most slim cases are really only for scratches. You'd need a much larger case for protecting against drops.

  • i think the edge white from dick is sold out

  • Just ordered a Black Note 4 and S-View…

I need a 2nd device as well, and with the Note Edge from DSE cheaper than the N6, it's a tough choice!

  • OMG my note 4 order stuffed up and i paid without the code even though i applied it ughhh! Now im calling ebay to get it sorted.

  • Note EDGE, awesome deal! Got it! WHITE

  • -5

Got the Note 4 Edge for $686 yesterday with delivery, no stock in my local DS. Got a second hand note 4 off GT for $300 and sold on eBay next day for $675. thought i would try the edge.

  • Says "almost gone" now for the note 4 black.. I want one but not allowed :(

Edit, note 4 white now temporarily sold out

  • +1

What a nightmare going through checkout, order now if you want one. I have one local store around corner and one about 6k away. Both had stock. When I got to payment stage, I'm thrown back and my store is out of stock. Select other one and same thing. Refresh stock levels and first store has stock again after a little while, but gone before PayPal has finished loading etc. Think I managed to grab it on 6th try. Didn't look like it was coming back in stock as I had refreshed for a while, and white was gone, so I was just about order it posted instead when it appeared.
