Pandawill emailed me with happy hour details. just ordered this phone the other day for $290 which was damn cheap alone,

Buy between 4-5pm AEST (happy hour). First 5 are priced at $243 and the next 200 are $255 (these rates may vary by a couple of dollars) apply 1 of the codes (they don't stack) for $5 USD off and purchase it in USD currency. have paypal convert it for better rates than what pandawill do.

(comes with silicone case and screen protector too)

the reddit & xda community seems to love this phone. reviews say its a pretty amazing phone and specs compare with the flagship samsung, lg, htc phones. build quality is great for a 'china droid'. with phones like the HTC M9 being $1100 AUD due to them upping phone prices because of the low aussie dollar. i decided to stop buying these thousand dollar phones. did some searching around and you can get top of the line specs for $250. not the same build quality but for 1/4 of the price im not complaining. could upgrade every year at this price.

I know that it's a typo but still funny =)

The phone looks pretty good, anyone have experience with this brand?

  • +1

I have the G4S and it has been great. Smaller screen (4.7), 2GB or Ram as opposed to 3, and only 3G but other than that a lot of similarities.

You can't expect the build quality to be as good as a high end korean phone(still not bad at all), but for the price you get a lot of bang for your buck.

  • +2

I have this phone. 3GB, cannot fault it.

Highly recommended if your into a flagship spec phone but don't mind the branding. At least the name of this brand is not so um cough doogee cough

  • suggest before you buy anything from pandawill you read previous deal comments, i had quite a few troubles with them, in the end the phone died, and i couldn't be bothered sending it back…

also they have a perm ban for sock puppeting, should give you some indication of there practices…

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/148601

    • i have bought quite a few things from pandawill over the years, never had an issue. i

are you suggesting im making multiple accounts and posting deals from them? been a long time lurker here for years, saw a good deal and thought i'd share. not associated with pandawill at all.

      • I don't believe I suggested that… Just said its one of the shonky business practice's they've employed which got them a perm ban…

"Never had an issue" I'd be interested in seeing how you went when you did have one.

  • So is the Dual sim limited to 2G on one of the sims?

    • both sims can do 4G but only one can be active.

      • But it is dual stand by correct? So can it use data on one sim and calls on another at the same time?

        • correct. you just cant have 2 4G at sametime. it will be either

          Sim1: 4G
          Sim2: G

          or

          Sim1: G
          Sim2: 4G

depending on your preference in the "Sim management tool"

        • @dabell: That would work fine for me. I have a work phone which is for calls only and then my personal phone.

Are any of those 'LTE' bands, Australian 4G bands?

    B20 (800DD), B7 (2600), B3 (1800).
    1.9 GHz (B39), 2.3 GHz (B40), 2.6 GHz (B41).

    • +2

      Only Band 3.

Won't work on 700mhz Band 28 which is what Telstra and Optus are deploying.

  • From here :
    http://www.jiayu.es/jiayu-moviles-chinos/107-jiayu-s3-2ram-1…

    Looks like :
    LTE 4G, WIFI, Bluetooth.
    WCDMA 900/1900/2100MHz
    FDD-LTE B3/B7/B20 // TDD-LTE B39/B40/B41
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

    and based on this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks)

NBN Co Australia 2300 40 TDD Apr 2012
    Optus Australia 700 28 FDD Jul 2014
    Optus Australia 1800 3 FDD Apr 2012
    Optus Australia 2100 1 FDD Jul 2014
    Optus Australia 2300 40 TDD Jun 2013
    Optus Australia 2600 7 FDD Dec 2014
    Telstra Australia 700 28 FDD Nov 2014
    Telstra Australia 1800 3 FDD Sep 2011
    Voda Australia 850 5 FDD Oct 2014
    Voda Australia 1800 3 FDD Jun 2013

    Looks like 3 (1800), 7 (2600) & 40 (2300) would be covered.

    • So will work on Telstra & optus 4G?

      • pretty sure i was reading that telstra and optus 4g do work. dont hold me to that though

      • Yep, band 3 is the basic 4G band, although Telstra at least are pushing out the 700Mhz (B28) service which I'm hanging out for, and this phone doesn't cover it.

        • So this phone would work with Telstra generally through out Australia either on 3g or 4g?

        • +1

@morphjk: It'll work, though as it's missing the WCDMA 850Mhz band it wont be great for remote areas.

        • @hellbound:
Thanks. I'm not generally in remote areas often although depends if Hobart is classed as remote. When I'm interstate I'm in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney.

  • USD$194.99+del or AUD$240.59 (delivered) here? http://www.dealsmachine.com/best_230044.html?currency=AUD&ut…

    • thats the 2GB version that has no NFC. also does not include a silicone case or screen protector. still a good buy though

    • Think thats just the 2GB version

  • I've heard a lot of reports of the headphone jack not working on these. Is that fixed, or is there a workaround?

  • Just add oil

For those looking to purchase this, I reckon it's 4-5pm AEST.

    http://www.pandawill.com/happy-hour/?current=Monday

    • Thanks, no wonder the vouchers didn't work just now.

      • You have to be logged in for the vouchers to work. Otherwise they will appear as not valid.

        • Oh…

  • sorry got the time around the wrong way haha. 4-5PM AEST. updated.

  • First 5 work out @ $256.44 AUD
$194.49 USD @ $127.64 AUD x 1.033 C/C FX conversion fee Pay pall slightly higher.

    Still a good deal

  • Wasn't quick enough to be one of the first 5. :)

  • does the coupon work? Wont let me put in a coupon code

  • +1

Grabbed one at $203.49USD which comes to $271.89AUD using PP. Still a great deal for top of the line specs!

  • Coupon is not working :/

  • +1

Is it worth using TNT or singapore shipping instead of default china mail?

    • +1

I've found it mnakes it arrive about a week quicker for other things I've ordered from China.
I'm not sure if TNT is quicker then Singapore post

  • Won't let me checkout, keeps saying please confirm your address.

  • Guys, I'm talking with Online Help at the moment, they say coupon code does not work because this is "special price". I'm still deliberating…

    • I was in the same boat as you, but I decided I take a shot. It's less than $300 for some great specs, and good reviews. Don't think you're going to find a better deal.

      • I thought the happy hour was only for the coupon, asked the Online Help when the price will expire and his reply was "I don't know". Did more research, went back and it was over. Good luck with the phone, I'll be lurking around for a similar deal.

  • anyone still waiting for their phone? It has not come yet. They gave ma tracking number RS196060536NL. Hope it isnt bogus.
