  • Great, thank you

These are good but be mindful that a lot of apps on Amazon are not up to date compared to Google play. Not sure why is the case but I've noticed it on many occasions.
People may not care if it's free.

    • Yeah, for example World of Goo is 1.1.1 on Amazon but 1.2 on Google Play.

        Um, free…

        • +1

It's free today, but normally it's $5 on Amazon store and $5 on Google play. I'm just curious what the point is of of the Amazon store if they charge the same amount and their aps are out of date, not to mention you have to download their appstore to get the apps.

        • @nasotrang: Amazon give them away for free occasionally, Play Store generally does not. =-]

        • +1

@nasotrang: It's up to the developer to provide updated versions to Amazon. I'm guessing the majority of sales are from Google Play and not Amazon so there is less incentive to constantly update your app on Amazon.

        • @Agret:
I also question the relevance of a
Lot of the updates you end up getting pushed, often seems to end up as a new way to push an advert on you.

        • @nasotrang: and yet today we are taking about them being free. I'll take that over a .1 increase In version that just adds in adverts any day.

  • Thanks TA.

  • Will wait on them ticking over for usa, some good apps here.

Any hidden gems here? There's usually 1 or 2 among the usual junk.

Easy tether is pretty good, not for its tethering of mobile data as that comes out of the box with all phones now but for its tethering of WiFi data. Its great when your computer doesn't have WiFi (which I imagine isn't very common in this day and age). I sometimes bring my computer along to my girlfriend's house and since I don't have a wireless card installed, I can use my phone as a WiFi dongle.

      • Great tip! I just needed a wifi dongle for virtual machine on my work laptop to use guest network! =)

      simple planes!

World of Goo is one of those delightful hidden gems.

    • Five Nights at Freddy's 2

    • Make sure you grab Servers Ultimate Pro, it's amazing - has so many different servers you can quickly run off your phones WiFi in a pinch.

There's some gems in here. Big recommendation for "FolderSync". Easily setup wifi backups of all my critical phone data overnight. Sleep easy.

hope your backing up your pc hard drive too .. its also prone to failure

      • +6

Dout there's an Android app for that…

      • you're
If you have a backup on a disk that might fail, that still leaves you with the original copy… not really necessary to back it up a THIRD time unless you are extremely paranoid that two devices will fail simultaneously. ;op

      • FolderSync, overnight backups to my NAS, Google Drive & Skydrive. Sorted. ;)

I added it thinking I had the lite version, but I have the paid version already.
I use it the same way, to upload videos that i've put in folders (sons names) to my server, so that they are ready for viewing on the media pc. All done overnight while on charge and wifi!

  • Seem to all still be full priced in the app

World of Goo is a favourite

    • Great game but a bit hard to play on a phone if you have fat fingers like me.

  • Thanks. Downloaded and played The Hidden World. Finished the whole game in about 2 hours, a short game. Already have Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek, very good hidden object game and quite long.

Make sure you grab Servers Ultimate Pro, it's amazing - has so many different servers you can quickly run off your phones WiFi in a pinch.
