  • I've got its big brother. I love the six channels (3 internal, 3 guest) and you can name them the same for load sharing or differently as you wish. I've just moved into a new house and I think I'll name the channels things like (sub-basement, library, pooldeck, theatre, guestwing, servantsquarters) it will keep the neighbours guessing ;) Got the idea in Monaco, I was standing behind a super-yacht searching for a wi-fi hotspot and this boat had 3 networks (pool deck, bridge, utility deck) it was a giggle.

    • make sure you name one of them "dungeon" or better yet "torture chamber" :)

Priced matched $151.05 at Officeworks Virginia Qld. Had another store refuse to price match, linked pic receipt for others.

  • Priced matched at OW Ballarat Vic, they have a few left, showed guy web page on my phone of SE, no problem,
    From $296.00 to $151.05, 2 min in/out.
Thanks BTB & Ozbarginers for info.

I pricematched at officeworks as well. Thanks for the great deal BTB & Ozbarginers.

  • is this a good substitute for our old crappy Telstra supplied modem? - Thomson TG782T -

    Thanks

    • It is not a modem router. It is just a router. However, if you know how to change Thomson TG782T into bridge mode and connect it to R7000 and let R7000 handles all the routing, you should get better result.

  • I am currently using netgear N600 modem router DGND3700v2 and live in a 2-storey house. Is it a good idea to use R7000 as an extender.any advice will be much appreciated.

  • bought one from Elizabeth st officeworks in Melbourne….guy from tech department couldn't believe it, called their main office etc…atlast got it for 151$…..still 4-5 more left…thanks Ozbarginers for info…

Not sure why they don't believe it - Surely they don't think Officeworks are already providing the best price!! Close to $300 regular price in OW, when you can get it from many other places for around $200! Got North Sydney OW to pricematch without too much trouble too. Thanks for the info OzB!

      • i know for tech stuff their prices have been always much higher than others ..

  • Bought one from my local Officeworks, they pricematched without too much hassle. Took about 15mins of going back and forth to check things with the manager but ended up with the desired result.

Replaced my entry level Netgear DGN1000 ADSL modem/router for router duties. Bridged the modem/router to modem only mode. Seems to drop connections less using the R7000 to connect through the DGN1000.

Took a little while to set everything up properly (Built in DDNS, port forwarding, Synology NAS etc) but now that it is everything seems a lot more stable/solid.

I used to need a Wi-Fi extender to cover the other 3/4 of the house but now I have been able to ditch it and actually get better coverage than with it.

Pricematched at a nearby Officeworks for $151.05, last one on the shelf, however it is definitely NOT a new unit (Netgear label on inner plastic packaging unsealed, antenna bag opened, network cable not cable-tied or bagged, cable tie on power adapter reapplied, signs the plastic on the top of the unit with wifi settings has been replaced). At the very best, a demo unit. At worst, a used unit put back on the shelf.

Definitely glad I didn't pay their asking price for it. Shoddy practices, IMO.

    • it has to be a used unit. i bought the same one from the same store and noticed all their boxes were open with used hardware inside. half their dlink boxes have netgear products in them its insane.
