$1199 Australia to Los Angeles rtn
How much does it normally cost during the off peak season ?
probably $899….
I don't know offhand to be honest, and would be happy for others to clarify. I posted this as it's the first Qantas 'sale' I've seen lately covering that travel period.
I'm personally happy to pay extra to fly in a Qantas A380 over other carriers, especially for a direct flight, so even saving $100 off the regular fair it may make it viable for some people.I posted this as it's the first Qantas 'sale
just because Qantas they are advertising a 'sale', does not make it a bargain.
if you don't know if the price is cheaper than normal, why did you post it ?
if you think 1199 is not cheap for a return flight to LA, i would love to see what you think is a bargain price
Based upon years of flying Qantas, I've personally found their sale prices have always been below regular cost, and generally decent value.
@adam456: Bargain price is $750 return with Air New Zealand posted in OzBargain late last year. Flew with them in Feb and had a great flight.
Normal Qantas price without any discount would be 1599+ if I remember it correctly.
1199 is definitely a bargain for Qantas. How full was your flight? I'm wondering if it was just mine that was packed to the rafters..

To NZ was full but from NZ to LA was 70% full. Pretty happy with the flight and service.
Just so people are aware Qantas to LA is like a bunch of sardines in a can. Sure its a direct flight but so is virgin.
I made the mistake of booking Qantas and there was like 1 seat empty on the whole A380.
Wife met up with me a few days later and took Virgin for around the same price and she had rows to herself.so you're complaining about an airline having a full plane? wowzers
Did you happen to go on a Friday or Saturday, and she went mid-week?
Quite the opposite here. Flew Qantas to LA in the A380 in early december, there were still at least 20-30 seats left on the flight there, on the flight back (30/12) the flight was at least half empty, the entire back section was completely empty, pretty much everyone got a row to themselves.
Saying this, Qantas, touting itself as a 'premium, full service' airline, they make you PAY for your seat selection. Disgraceful.
paying for seat selection on qantas international is a bit of a waste of time. Most of the higher tier frequent flyers would have already got the good seats and exit rows on international cost money for everybody.
I was flying with my wife and child, so we had no idea if Qantas were going to make us sit apart, when we all wanted to sit together. I'm sure they wouldn't put a child away from it's parent, but we didn't want to chance having only one of us near her on a 19 hour flight.
Europe Next?, I think $1199.00 is a bargain, Try and find cheaper in this economy.
In January and February Air New Zealand were doing it for $800 return!
I don't believe that was direct.
You're right, that's true.
If this is direct then it's a very good deal!
"Dates: 1-31 August"
Quite a nice period of year actually …
And for non-cattle class…
Premium Economy return from $2999
Business return from $5499
First return from $9499
