NRMA is offering new members who join the 2 years Premium Care membership or existing members who upgrade to the 2 years Premium Care membership a free Garmin nuvi 255 GPS. The 2 years Premium CAre membership costs $388 for new members (includes $50 joining fee) or $338 for existing members and the RRP of the GPS is $199.

This Promotional Offer entitles new, existing or upgrading Members who purchase a 24 Month Premium Care Subscription Package a free Garmin nüvi 255 valued at $199 RRP. There is a $55.00 joining fee (once-off for new NRMA Members only) plus a Premium Care Subscription fee of $333.00 - total price $388.00. Fees paid to NRMA are non-refundable. This offer is only applicable on the first 24 months of the premium Care Subscription Package purchased under the Promotional Offer. There is a limit of one free Garmin nüvi 255 per Membership, irrespective of whether new multiple vehicles are added to the Membership.

This Promotional Offer is not available:

a) to lapsed subscriptions or expired Memberships in which all subscription packages on an Membership have lapsed during the promotional period;
b) when renewing your Premium Care subscription;
c) to existing Members wishing to extend or alter their current Premium Care subscription;
d) when renewing or joining, adding or upgrading a Premium Care subscription at the time of breakdown.

This Promotional Offer must be taken out and paid for by:

attending in person at any NRMA Office;
calling 1300 771 389; or
by visiting www.mynrma.com.au/gpsoffer between 4/11/2009 and 30/12/2009 (inclusive).

A free Garmin nüvi 255 will be sent to Members within 14 days of new Membership being activated. This Promotional Offer is applicable to Premium Care subscription packages only. Where there are eligible joint Members (as the case may be) they will be treated as one customer with respect to the Promotional Offer.

    So in short this offering valid to:
    1) new NRMA members who join the 2 years Premium Care membership
    2) existing NRMA 'normal' road side service membership 'UPGRADE' to 2 years Premium Care membership

    NRMA no longer offer the cheap Basic care package, but you can stay on it if you are already a member on that plan. The idea is, you get a "free" GPS but they quickly recoup this because after the two years is over, members can't switch back to the old cheap cover, they have to go to the newer more expensive "Classic Care" aka more expensive than Basic Care package for the same service.

    This is not a bargain as you'll be much better off in the long run if you just go and buy one of these and stick with your Basic Cover plan.

  • I say give NRMA the flick instead have a look at some of their competitors.

    My renewal came up and it's $82.50 for their most basic care. It's $55 joining fee for new members too which I dont really see point of.

    Their competitor's $99/year is equivalent to the premium from NRMA $166 from what I can see…
