has to be the rear two lol.

  • +1

can easy get all 4 for 20% off, too bad its 50% more expensive than other places

    • not wrong there. but some places only have one or two tyre places to choice from. so for them go twice and get all 4

  • +4

Please note, part of the rules for the deal is that you have to do a burn out when you leave.

    • Wouldn't it be better to do one before you get new tyres.

      • +4

Yes, but I don't make the rules.

      • +1

Well… if they did it with the old tyres… they might pop and they might be unable to move the car

        • then a burnout just before heading in….

  • P-plater questio: if this is not much of a deal, any idea where you can normally find good deals on tyres in sydney?

    • tempe/talab/ozzy/st george/northern beaches
put the word tyres after the name to find them.

      • kmart tyres are cheap too.

        • Just a shame that most in Kmarts either have very little tyre knowledge and/or are blatant rip-offs/liers!

        • @Snoop:
unless they are not swapping you with new tyres and stuff, i think it's not that bad.
you just need to know what model you want, ask for it, get the price and have it replaced… check the year/mth of the tyre, then go to another shop to get the alignment/balance done.

        • @slowmo:
Firstly would you really want to go to a shop that you only half trust?

          The reason I say this about Kmart is two-fold;
          1: Until very recently I've worked in the industry for 23 years, I know who they buy from, I know what they pay, and I know their business practices;
2: For some reason my brother went there with a puncture. After being told that; a: the tyre was unrepairable; and b: the tyre is no longer available; he actually called me.
I did two things; 1: Confirmed that the Toyo tyres he had were still actually available; 2: Discussed the actual puncture with him. I then sent him to the nearest reputable dealer that I know of in his area.
He then took his tyre to my suggested store (in this case it was the Tyrepower store in Rosebud Vic). They not only advised him that the tyre was fine to repair, but actually didn't charge him for the repair. I expect that they did this out of goodwill to show that the team at Kmart are a joke, and to win his future business!

        • @Snoop:
if price is the matter, and you are just interested in the product. yes. :)

though, i will not let ktyres go near my punctured tyres even though i've not used them for repairs before. i have places i trust i would go to (unless it's puncture on more than 1 tyre then tough call) since i always buy cars with a full sized spare, i don't think i will ever be in a situation like your brother.

the other thing is i will try not to repair a tyre, i will replace it. if someone tells me no stock, no deal then. i have 'backup' shops that i will trust next to use for the rest of the services anyway.

to me, i try not to make it into rocket science, tyres with a recent manufacture date and they know how to replace it and give a good price, i'm cool.

        • @slowmo:
I understand that you don't want to be or have to be, but you're not too fussed if the store you're buying from also isn't knowledgeable about tyres and suitable applications?
Like you said, it doesn't have to be rocket science, just go to someone reputable and trustworthy… and that's generally not a Kmart!

Ps. I'd much rather have a 3 year old Pirelli, Michelin, etc. on my cat than a recently produced Austyre, Pace, Ovation, etc.

        • @Snoop: again, that'll never happen. i will flip if my Michelins are older than 18 months ;)

    • I was recently told about Tyresales… have a look? I personally don't know about prices but looks reasonable.

      • +1

        rip off.

  • Goodyear are crap with deals they always have hidden charges

the buy 3 get 1 free deal requires you to pay disposal of the 4th tyre

you need to pay for fitting and service in this deal and they what's charge RRP

    • That wasn't my experience a month ago. Paid 3 for 4 tyres including fitting. They took my old tyres for free too.

      • +1

went to the Richmond SA one before they had the electrical fire 2-3 years ago for that deal.

Got the Goodyear Directional 5's but they wouldn't budge on RRP and got extremely pissy when I said the disposal fee was a bit unfair. They claimed that the tyre gets given to me for free so it costs them money to dispose of the 4th one

in hindsight, i should have just told them to throw the old one in the trunk to save that money like a real Ozbargainer

still worked out a bit cheaper than everywhere else but not as much as I was expecting

        In contrast
Bought a set of toyo Teo plus tyres 2-3 months ago and they also had a buy 3 get 1 free deal on nanoenergies . Not only did they reduce the price of the tyres, 3 tyres was all I paid for! I know where I will be going back to- TyrePower

        • You know why… They're independently owned and operated. The 'Tyrepower' paint on the front of the building is just part of a marketing/buying group. They don't have to read from a scripted manual, have a lot better flexibility on what they can sell you, generally have a heap better knowledge of the product, and actually listen to what the customer's requirements are before going off on a tangent about what you should buy!

        • @Snoop:

yeah I agree with that, it'd be like going into an Apple/ Samsung store and expecting anything less than RRP

I know for a fact that Tyrepowers can vary depending on owner but I am quite happy to go back to my Welland, SA one

  • I'd love to neg this deal, or even report it as being a joke post. Because that's what it is… a joke!
GAC stores buying power is usually very limited and this reflects in their pricing. Seriously, 20% off their so called 'standard retail prices' wouldn't be hard for most other retailers to match. (Admittedly, not all retailers have the same buying power on all brands available.)
