kind of off/on topic-
how many of you use a brush cutter blade (instead of or as well as a trim line).
Never used one and just wondering its uses/benefits compared to the normal nylon lineThe cut from the blade depends on how powerful your machine is. I use both blade and line, I use the blade for the thick grasses/ small saplings, if I use line on the thick stuff it runs out too quickly . I have heard of some people putting on old Skil saw (circular saw) blades, haven't tried this myself.
Bound to be a Darwin award in that.
The blade works surprisingly well, I use to cut lawns for a living and used the blades on tall grass with a cheapy like this.
You can use the brush cutter blade to "grind" grass lumps off paving. Obviously this will probably dull the blade quicker than using it only on vegetation.
is this at lasoo or aldi?
is there a direct link, couldnt find the item
thanksJust found it: https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/saturday-28-february…
Very similar to all the other bundle packs on eBay. Don't expect it to perform although being a '32.6cc full crank', it cant beat Stihl's 25cc or Echo's 21cc in terms of cutting power.
However the price does beat them though…. haha
Expect it to be cheap and nasty but will do the job, not sure how safe they are though, the pole looks pretty thin and cheap. Also don't expect it to be easy to start after 1-2 years.
I bought one of the eBay bundles that looked very similar to this Aldi pack (same attachments but in a fashionable orange colour).
WORST purchase I have ever made.
First one literally lasted about an hour until the motor died. Sent it back for a replacement and same thing happened to the next one. All the attachments rusted within weeks, the plastic became brittle and cracked (including petrol tank). Trigger snapped on the 2nd one.
Gave up and took it as a lesson learned.
can you please link to the ebay one?
I bought a line trimmer from ALDI for $99 last year. All the plastic bits have broken off - including the handle. Last time I started it the pull cord didn't go back in. You get what you pay for I guess.
Sounds like all the Ryobi trimmers. I went through 3 of them until I finally bought a Honda.
Yea, Its better to get a good brand name for any garden tools which have a engine in it. If you expect the product to still be usable 3-5+ years, then you will want to get a brand name one.
If you expect to use the product once, then go ahead and buy a cheapo.
For garden tools, you will never go bad if you stick with Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Honda etc.
Go to a specialist, not Bunnings. The ones sold in Bunnings is usually inferior products for about the same price as the mower / garden tool specialists. Also getting big brand ones means that small parts are easy to find e.g. a new carburetor. If you get some small brand it is pretty much, part breaks and throw the entire machine away.
isn't Aldi = shit quality
No.
Aldi can be shit quality, but Aldi can be great quality as well. For example, the ratchet wrenches that I bought are great.
Yes it is. I got blower with 3 year warranty and keep flooding petrol after 2 years. I Called them and they ask me to drop it to a workshop which is 70km away from my home.
thoughts on this vs a $199 Ozito 4 stroke straight shaft? Kinda prefer 4 stroke since my 909 mower is 4 stroke
Ozito looks very similar to the garden master at aldi, 4 stroke as doesn't have the chainsaw shaft. 600ml tank. May or may not come with a shoulder strap.
I got the garden master at aldi this morning, used it for a hour with the blade attachment, cuts 20-30mm small tree trunks or branches no worries, fouled the plug after 20 mins use and it's ok for the price.
You had to be quick to even see this product this morning. Only two left at the local aldi, other store sold out and people came over from it.
Look exactly what you get for $199.
