    At 10 inches it more ca!lled a netbook than a laptop.

    i thought about getting this but the cpu is such a letdown

      What were you expecting at this price?

      • +1

        It was over $300 before. Just because the price changes didn't mean the specs change with it

        The CPU is actually a huge let down. It's even worse than the entry level baytrail you find on those $90 usb stick PCs. Without upgrading to an SSD this machine is going to be a pain to work with even for the most basic tasks.

        If you don't need a touch screen laptop in particular it's much better to build you own mini PC with a Celeron J1900 or J1800.

  • Yeah more of a value for money proposition now. My old Asus laptop died. Its about 8 years old (M51SN-AP003G). Would this thing be faster than that? Sorry don't know much about processors or how to compare speeds.

    Think it's this:Intel core 2 duo T9300 processo(2.50ghz, 6mb cache, 800 mhz fsb)

  • In comparison to others within the price range -
    Good:
    * Touch screen
    * 4GB RAM
    * Proper Hard disk (not a soldered on eMMC) so upgradable to SSDs etc
    * Comes with full Office license
    * Arguably better battery consumption

    Bad:
    * CPU is worse than the Baytrail Atoms (but not by much)
    * Smaller screen (Netbook)
    * Shabby build and keyboard/trackpad

    Worth it? For students and light work with portability, absolutely.. You get office home edition ($149 value there) and the proper Windows 8.1/x64 so the software alone almost is the price. Heavy or power users needs to stay away though.

    Would say it runs better if you swapped out the 320GB with a 128GB SSD for $70 or so these days and will help with the overall speed.

      The CPU is actually far worse than an N2820 per se.

  • Asus parts can be expensive.

    • ??? Most 7mm Sata SSD should fit in here. The battery would be run into the ground, at that stage time to upgrade anyway with this cpu.

  • Great alternative to a Windows tablet for people who prefer to use a decent keyboard and stability. Beware of low performance as stated above, really just mediocre tablet performance, but should be reasonable battery life. As this should also get the free Windows 10 update, could be interesting with that touchscreen.
    Will speed up a bit with ssd, but don't expect too much. Good as a second/portable unit for road worriers.
    Looks like HN has sold out or removed this model.

  • Is it a netbook with touch screen or a tablet with a fixed keyboard?
    I am confused….

    • Yeah it's basically a netbook with touch
