Why is this a bargain? How much do they normally sell this for?

    • +12

They don't normally sell this, that's the bargain.

      • +4

They sold one last year for $169.

Is this thing going to kill me?

        • +2

          @Jesmond:
I read a few reviews on Whinepool (I think) that it's very uncomfortable and not really safe when you want to rack the barbell back on to the hooks. I think it can only support up to 80KG-100KG or so of weight as well so that may be a problem.

    It's a great deal.

Value, for sure. I paid almost $100 more for one with a couple of features fewer.

The best thing is, if you don't like it, box it back up as best you can within 8 weeks and you get your money back.

Also 2 yr warranty, so probably be reasonable quality too.

Do I need to be buff to carry this to my car?
Cause I want this to get buff but defeats the purpose if you need to get buff first….

    • +1

Doesn't matter, keep trying, and you might just get buff.

    • +9

Most people use trolleys but sure, carry it to your car if you wish. It's good exercise.

        Do you even lift?

      1. Step one: get this deal first to gain bigger pectoral (chest) muscles.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/178813

      1. Step two: go to Aldi and get your cheap bench.

      2. ????

      3. PROFIT!!!

      • +3

Is it sad that I knew which deal you linked to before I even opened it?

      Wax-Off!

Your not going to get buff with that.

If you are going to do it do it properly with a power rack, proper bench, proper weight set.

Otherwise get a gym membership, you will just be dicking around with those bullshit things.

  • Good price but wish this was foldable… Could anyone recommend where to get a foldable bench at a good price from?

  • +1

Anyone know the weight rating ?

  • What are the dimensions on this thing (boxed)? Will it fit the boot of a Camry?

  • Apparently if you buy before 15/02 you get a free vial of test-e.

Look forward to getting mine from the local council clean up in a couple of years for free.

    • +3

In a couple of weeks more like it

  • +1

Tempting. I always worry about the weight though. Renting currently. Wooden floors. Do I really want to sit 160 odd kilos on the floors?

Maybe those bow flexers are on to something. Think I'm going to give the band workouts a go (cheaper too when you consider the cost of a bench plus weights).

  • Do you reckon you can lower it to be a flat bench, rather than the incline? I'd assume so?

Decline is another story, though would totally sell me on it.

And is that thing at the front for doing preacher curls?

Anyone have feedback from the previous aldi bench?

  • Looks good for teenagers. If you want to lift weights seriously at home you should check out power racks / cages. They are good for not dying on squats / bench press when you have no spotter.

  • Careful!
Where you re-rack the barbell is usually the distance your arms will be apart so your hands will graze or get caught in the rack. These cheaper ones always have this problem. Go for a wider (usually more expensive) brand and save your hands some pain.

Having used cheap benches before, I'd say it's worth the extra money to get a commercial quality one. On the other hand these come with a money back guarantee so you could always return it if you don't like it.

Assuming you're still alive after it fails.
