Hmm reviews of McAfee have slipped them out of the top four according PC and Tech Authority this month. Since Intel have bought them it's not all that good in my opinion.

The banks probably get paid a small commission for each customer that stays on with mcafee.
Mcafee has / had a very bad reputation for ignoring requests to cancel your credit card.
It was /still is dangerous to give mcafee your credit card number, unless you want to stay with them.
Warning, be very careful, never trust them to cancel.
