    Great router, reasonably good price.

    • Please update price - now $213

  • I think it's the lowest price so far.

  • Great router, paid slightly more for it but very happy.

    Worth the money.

  • just paid $215 delivered 2 weeks ago which was the best price I could find - so 205 is great.

  • Very good throughput speeds, stable, and top notch CPU ideal for maximising VPN speeds.

    tested, draws about 35 watts.

  • I seem to go through routers every 6-12 months as they end up becoming flaky and need to be reset multiple times a day. I've only ever bought ~$40-80 routers so would spending more on something like this solve my problem? Been really happy with my WD My Net N750 but it has recently started to stop working properly even despite flashing to OpenWRT.

    • Buying high end routers does help, but I've never had a router that I would classify as a reliable and long lasting device.

All routers seem to have issues within 3 years, and if there was a device that didn't, it was because it wasn't being used very often, or didn't work very hard in those years.

      • Would agree with high end routers being generally better. I have two DLink DIR-655 routers (high end at the time) that are about 7 years old and going strong.

I also have the AC66U (predecessor to the router in this post) since release, which is about 2+ years. It sits in my roof, secured to a beam right next to the roof tiles, and frequently gets over 75 degrees celsius operating temperature for the wireless radios. Hasn't missed a beat. I'm quite surprised that it (and it's power supply) are still going so strong TBH.

  • Top notch router, had it for almost a year. Very good wireless signal strength.

  • Good spot, I've been considering one of these for a couple of weeks. Bought.

Got it for 215 end of last year and 2 Gold Class voucher (arrived yesterday) via redemption from Asus …
Working very well … great speeds :-)

Be aware that there is no modem built in … there is a Asus DSL-AC68U which has one built in.

    • Did the same from Wireless1, the vouchers arrived last week.

Very happy with the range and reliability, also the firmware updates have improved the QOS and other software features that bring it up to par with the 87 model.

      • Although no DD-WRT for all in one modem routers.

  • Great router, got it in December for $193 when MSY had 10% off Asus.

    • That was a good price and ASUS were also giving away 2 Gold Class movie tickets as a promotion with the purchase of the router. Mine arrived in the mail a couple of weeks ago.

Now they are planting a tree or something for each router sold….I know what I'd rather have.

How is it compare to the Netgear NightHawk x6?

    • There are some reports the nighthawk has issue. I am not sure whether that was corrected via firmware update. The Asus is very stable. There are also alternative firmware by some smart person that add extra function.

    • This router is similar to Nighthawk R7000.
Asus does not have anything similar to Nighthawk X6.

  • Bought this from PCCG for 229 last week :(
    Anyway,happy with this so far.

  • Shopping Express had the Asus RT-AC68U for $20

    I am confused.

  • Is this NBN compatible?

      Is the pope Catholic?

    • Yes, I am on the NBN and have one of these routers

  • The DSL ac68u is also a bit cheaper then what I could find elsewhere at $275 delivered

  • I was looking to buy Netgear R8000 Nighthawk X6. Is it better than the router above?

    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/netgear-r8000-ac3200-n…

    Is this a good price?

  • Is it better than Netgear R7000 ?

I'm hoping the rep sees this.
I recenty purchased an 8GB Kingston RAM but found that the casing was not sealed (it was cut neatly).
There is also a sticker on it saying "RMA". Ran a memtest on it for a few hours, and it seems to be working just fine.
My question is, is this normal practice and will this affect my warranty whatsoever? If it doesn't, then I'll just keep it as it's working fine.

On another note. I received a newsletter about this RT-AC68U on my email stating that it is on sale for $199 free shipping. How come it now states as $205? D I need to a enter a coupon code?

    Cheers!

it is stated at 205 but wehen u go to purchase its like 240? any pointers as to why ?

  • How does this compare to the other deal with a TP Link D9?

    • TP Link D9 deal (though expired now) was much more attractive. As the Asus RT is only a Wifi router while the D9 with a better deal price was/is a ADSL2+Wifi router. I am waiting/hunting for similar deal for the TPLink Archer D9 deal.

  • can't get it at $205. Only $239.xx. Is there some code?

  • I was too slow with this deal. Last Saturday it was $205 as published however when i went in to purchase the next day after researching it, the "add to cart" had been removed. Probably out of stock. Now it's back up again, its at the higher price so not much of a bargain anymore….
