i think all you need to do is go here

  • Is it possible to have Malwarebytes 2.0 running alongside Bitdefender Internet Security!?

    • +1

Do you really need both running? How bad is your own ability to stop crapware? "It all starts with you"

    • Malwarebytes is not an antivirus according to the developers, it is specifically designed to complement one (run side by side) with one.

    • This thread in the Bitdefender forums seems to cover the issue(s)

Really…where is the deal. Seems like spam to me!

  • Baxter buster would be proud

  • 6 months only but will give it a try

  • +2

probably should put 6 months free in the title.
    Good scanner though.

  • +4

Description should be modified to mention 6 months free and remove any mention or link to that shit site and replaced with the actual deal link as mentioned (http://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/adware-removal-tool/)

Admins/Mods: windowsdeal.com should probably be banned from OzBargain all together. It's just a scam to get your email address and sell it to spammers.

BitDefender Free is great too! No nags!

  • If you use gmail or google apps hosted mail you can get multiple codes by adding "+(insert anything here)" to your email address. Eg [email protected] and [email protected] all go to the first address.

    • But is there a point - ie will codes generated from this offer be activated after 6 months to renew after the first 6 months? Or is there a date you must activate codes by which would prevent this?

      • Well for me I actually ordered the 3PC licence last week but am waiting on stock so I can use the 3 codes I got to get me through till they get new stock in and I can get an extra 6 months on each machine.

        • I used separate emails - unique codes. Gmail trick - it sent the same code haha.

    • The code might be not be unique. With these code giveaways I did that, then checked my email and all copies of the email sent had the same code, so this might not even be necessary.

      • Just checked and they are unique

  • is there a link for license on MAC OS?

  • The last edition had a very very poor rating for security as a firewall
    http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challeng…

Best of with privatefirewall and bitdefender virus separately for free and highly secure environment

      Who/what is matousec?
Combining sales with awards & recommended products kills credibility (if they had any). Doesn't matter which came first.

Just because you never heard of them or checked into them doesn't make them dodgy salesmen

Bitdefender – the vendor of Bitdefender Total Security

2014-06-23 (Bitdefender Total Security 2014 17.28.0.1191 scored 19 %): As one of the world's most advanced security solutions, Bitdefender is committed to providing the best protection to our users. In the Matousec test, Bitdefender Total Security scored 19%, as it did not go through the entire testing procedure.

This unforeseeable side effect is triggered by the fact that the test only takes into account whether the product blocks individual actions that are dissociated by other features characteristic to malware, such as the ability of an application to add itself to startup via Registry. These behaviors are also specific to legitimate applications that one user may voluntarily install on their computer, and blocking them in real-world scenarios would be considered as false positives. In real life scenarios, there is no reason to prevent an application from creating its own startup Registry key unless that application is deemed malicious by a complementary Bitdefender technology.

On our customer's devices, Bitdefender uses layered technologies to ensure accurate detection by correlating inputs from antimalware engines, host-intrusion prevention systems, cloud intelligence and behavior-based inspection. For the past three years, this layered approach to security has brought us multiple No. 1 awards for detection rate in tests carried by international organizations such as AV-Test and AV-Comparatives.

Your input is very valuable to us as we are continuously working on improving our award-winning technologies to boost detection and usability in real-world usage scenarios.

Our response: We find it somehow strange that autorun tests are being questioned by Bitdefender. Bitdefender implements a behavior based protection that actually does prevent access (asks for application's permissions) to the most common autorun location used by legitimate applications (i.e. the technique used by Autorun3). In fact, Bitdefender also monitors many other autorun locations and prevents their infection. On the other hand, it fails to block techniques of hijacking trusted applications (e.g. technique of AWFT4), keylogging attempts (Keylog3, Keylog4), and other highly suspicious techniques.

        • +1

It is totally legitimate for an AV to question startup entries it doesn't recognise. Not grounds to stop testing further because of that… their website says that the vendor needs to pay them to complete tests if one of their arbitrary 'levels' fails. The testing methodology is totally skewed towards vendors who pay them to test it properly and pay them to tell them how these tests actually work to be able to pass them, they can then use that to earn themselves a nice little gold star.

Please note that this is only for the BitDefender INTERNET Security 2015 product. For those of you in the past who have gotten the Bitdefender TOTAL SECURITY 2015 package, registering for this product will not extend it back to 90 days.

    • Thanks - was just wondering that. So is there a free way to extend "Total"? (Do codes for it also come up?)

  • +1

Is this stackable with my current internet security 2015 trial thingo from ozbargain?

Edit: Does not stack, resets your remaining days to 180.

  • So, I got two different keys with two different email addresses (one for me, one for the wife) and one code was 180 days free, the other was 30 days free. What gives? Neither of us have used BD before, so we're not 'existing customers' and I used the same link in two different windows. Pretty annoyed…

    • Maybe they recorded your IP address? tracking cookies? It's probably their way of preventing people from gaming the system by 'renewing' their free license by providing a new email and name each time.
