OR get it free tested @ your local pool store

    • +3

but unfortunately they then over push what chemicals you need. Thats what I have found at a few stores.

      • +2

Let em push there overpriced shit, grab your results and head for the door..lol

      • +1

I've got a similar story and the wife makes fun of me cause she doesn't believe they would lie about the figures.
        Yeah right….

I was on a mission to get the perfect balance.
2-3 free tests, was getting very close but I wanted perfect.
4th visit, another dude on the counter, reckons I'm way off and needs heaps of stuff…..pfffft
Never went there again (and yes, I bought stuff there)

        • That is what I have found, even if you went back days after doing what they say they will recommend that you need x chemicals.

      • You need to find a better pool shop. The one I go to often tells me not to buy any chemicals even though the test results show that something might be needed. I question them about it and they usually say not to worry as the pool will be just fine without adding the chemicals. And the chemicals they sell are no more expensive than getting them from Bunnings.

  • great deal thanks

  • great price, and heaps cheaper than similar at Bunnings.

  • Great offer REP, thanks!! Always wanted one of these for my inflatable Spa but never bothered because it's only used 3-4 weeks each year and I change the water at the half-way mark anyway… but now I may be able to keep the same water as I'll know how to treat it properly!

BTW, know if any of your filters would be a good equivalent to the Bestaway 'Type VI' to suit the Lay-Z-Spa?

    • +1

Give Bestway an email as they have been more than helpful in providing Replacement filters to me in the past and even some repair guides when I needed to fix the Temperate Probes in my Lay-Z-Spa.

      [email protected]

Last time I bought them it was $30 for a set of 4 filters delivered but I would say the price might have gone up since I bought mine.

      • I've seen them sell for about that on eBay from the UK but a fair bit of that is postage. No-one seems to stock them locally, not even DealsDirect but yeah I'll give Bestway a try, cheers!

        • I bought these, they are half-sized and you use two in each filter. But there are 6 pairs for $39 which isn't bad.

        • @choofa: Yeah cool Choofa but they're out of stock and have been for the few weeks I've been looking for them. Fingers crossed they get them back in. Out of interest, my Spa was supplied with these half-sized filters but I've seen full-sized ones around the traps too. Both seem to be about the same price. Not sure why they decided to go the half-size route though. Odd.

        • Sorry, didn't notice you couldn't buy them.
The next best option I found was this.
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/151521784094

I think the original design had the two half-sized filters, the newer models come with one full-sized filter.

I purchased this kit during the last deal.

  • Fantastic, really a bargain, thanks for sharing!

  • Done! Cheers OP.

  • Awesome deal

  • thanks OP got one

I am pretty sure the chemicals in these kits have a "best by" date as they recommend that you change them every "x" years. might be worth checking

  • Is this kit suitable for an outdoor spa?

  • nvm

  • Damn out of stock :(

Anyone know how to check the salt levels in the pool?

    • +3

throw a rock in your pool. If it floats you have too much salt..

      • Cheapest to just go to the pool shop or just taste for salt in the water. $1.50 per time is a lot to find out

        • I'd pay $1.50 to avoid hard-sell of unnecessary and overpriced chemicals.

        • +1

Unless you're walking to the pool store, chances are it will cost you more than $1.50 to get there and back, technically..

        • @Benjamin7711:

But you will still need to go to the pool shop or Bunnings after you have done the test to get any required chemicals unless you keep a whole supply of everything on hand just in case you might need it.

  • Out of stock

    • Managed to get one thank-you.

Any chance of a special deal on the Onga Hammerheads? Have been waiting to buy one at a previous price of $268 or thereabouts you had a little while back. Cheers.

      • +1

The best we can do at the moment for the Onga Hammerhead Pool Cleaner is $280. To get it, use coupon code "globalnomad". This offer is open to anyone, expires 06/2/2015.

        • Always miss the kits as they only seem to advertise them a few hours. Would the Hammerhead have an advantage over barracuda/Zodiac G2 in your mind? Mostly gum leaves at bottom.

        • Any plans to do some crazy pool cleaner sales?

        • @dan76n:

I would like a large discounted pool liner also

        • @temporiser: Any pool covers?

        • @daver: What is the surface and size of the pool? any issues like dust, pool cleaner getting stuck, etc?

        • @dan76n: what pool cleaners do you have in mind? what would people would like to see?

        • @daver: Could I get the diameter of links & mouth opening, assuming those could be wider. Concrete average size with no major issue aside attending to debris in diaphragm.

        • @daver: In our experience the Onga Hammerhead will be much better than the G2 for your pool and for picking the leaves.

In addition, it has 3 years warranty while the G2 only has 2. The hammerhead has life-time warranty on the "hammer" or oscillator which is the only moving part in it. The G2 uses a diaphragm which does not have life time warranty.

Perhaps you want to have a look at the Onga Bullshark. It is priced below the G2, it is made in Europe and would perform better than the Hammerhead (more heavy duty, less wear and tear). It also has 3 years warranty, and life time warranty on the oscillator.

        • @poolspa:
How about some irresistible prices on the hammerhead and bull shark?
I have an 8m x 4m square pebble Crete pool.

        • Thanks. I have bookmarked the shark http://poolandspawarehouse.com.au/bullshark-pool-cleaner-mad… for future reference +your Warehouse. Diaphragm is holding together (for the moment) so that's good.

        • @dan76n:

Irresistible prices…has a nice ring to it :).

          @Global Nomad:
For the right price Ozbargainers without Pools would buy one for their bath

  • Anyone used these, look a good cheap quick test option?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Swimming-Pool-Spa-Free-Chlorine-P…

    • i got these a few weeks ago, they seem to work then again im not a pool expert and only got our 15" inflatable pool up haha.

  • i bought one. Now just need to get a pool. Let me know when a bargain comes up
