No chance as it's not in stock..
Actually a very good price. Where is the 30% off though? $419 is all I see.
http://search.dse.com.au/search?w=windows+7+ultimate has the packs listed, seems a bit odd though?
Seems there are packs for all the Win7 versions:

lol when i clicked on the links you provided it seems you were still logged in to the system.
I logged you off before anyone can change all your account settings haha ;)
That's a very strange online shopping system, as I couldn't link to anything without having (what I think) must be the session ID. And I wasn't even logged on when I posted those links (I logged on afterwards - it must not have reset the session ID when I did that). This means that if I know someone's active session ID, I can actually get into their account? That's a pretty severe security flaw.
Oh well, I think I've logged out and that session is no longer containing my details, although this could means that other people using these link could access someone else's account who is also using this same link at the same time.
Mods, best to delete the links I posted.
Another alternative if you want more than one upgrade license could be to look overseas:
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack (3-User)
(For some reason I don't think the family pack is available directly in Australia.)
Available from amazon.com in the states currently for US$149.95
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Premium-Upgrade-Fami…
Now getting it to Australia is another matter, I've used PriceUsa before and they were good to deal with, but there are other options.
For PriceUSA shipping to Aus should be US$27.95
(see http://www.priceusa.com.au/order/?mod=order)
Currently it comes to roughly AU$210 delivered (plug in the figures yourself into the calculator). It will change daily based on exchange rate though.
So if you need more than one license it may be an option. Delivery will take a month or so though.
+2 for price USA, they do good… including paying for it…
shipito does forward shipping but most of the time you also need a US credit card.
apparently its only valid if the dse stores don't have it in stock.
It's really sad how Microsoft continues to rip us off because of its monopoly. $419 for an OS considering a worldwide market of billion users is totally unjustifiable.
Nearly the only advantage of getting ultimate is BitLocker.
If you dont need that then you dont need to spend $400 on an operating system
There are editions with "Home" in the title because they are prefect for nearly all home users, the other features are designed for business and enterprise use.
As a student I can buy the Pro version for $50, but it wasn't my point.
The point is Windows 7 isn't far ahead of others, it doesn't introduce anything new or revolutionary yet you have to pay what ever Microsoft asks for just because they are industry standard not because they have a best product on the market.
How Microsoft can't reduce the price even by having a billion customers is a obvious reason for their monopolistic strategy.
yet you have to pay what ever Microsoft asks
Well you cannot exactly negotiate with apple how much you will pay for their new operating system each time one is released.
How Microsoft can’t reduce the price even by having a billion customers is a obvious reason for their monopolistic strategy.
As i said before the ultimate version is not really deigned for home users (it is actually a retail version of the enterprise edition which is for business customers.)
Microsoft is just making money from people wanting to have the top product.
It is no different to apple charging a few hundred dollars more to have a laptop in black.
The white one (home premium) works just as you need it to however the black one (ultimate) offers a little extra.
@anthony: (-:
If Apple asks for a high unreasonable price then same will apply to Apple. Here the subject is Windows 7 and it's a friendly comment not a marketing campaign.
Enterprise and Business are nice words, but keep saying them wont add anything to the product.
Your argument is so weak I don't know where to start.
I think it's better to leave it at this point and you can enjoy your TOP PRODUCT.
I stick with XP for my needs at least until I find it necessary to upgrade.
All I'm saying is when you have billion customers the final price can't be this much higher than those who have millions of users.
By the way Apple's premium for black macbook (although it's not the case anymore) was more rip off in comparison to the different prices for different versions of Windows 7.
Ultimate is like $20 more than Professional though so there's not a lot of incentive to not pay it (unfortunately). The more unfortunate aspect is that I'd normally get Home Premium but that doesn't have XP compatibility mode annoyingly.
And then they complain about piracy and sue ISPs… Good thing Google's supposedly free OS is meant to be on the way. Apparently the big companies make 150x more from piracy anyway.
do you want cheapest?? a pirate copy of Windows 7 Ultimate can easily be found on the streets of China for around RMB 5 (US$0.73). hahah
This is not PirateBargain. No one here is interested in buying pirated software. If they are they're in the wrong place.
No one here is interested in buying pirated software.
Very true, but borderline illegal is ok, judging from the number of non-students who nabbed these. :)
oops, just find a better deal….Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit English for $$239.95 + $5 Shipping if pay with PayPal Express. http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/product.php?id=10249
Pretty sure that's the OEM version, since it states it's the 64-bit version only and the retail version comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The difference between OEM and retail is that the OEM won't allow license transfers, there's no upgrade option, only a clean install, and technically, they're only supposed to be sold with hardware. And obviously, it only comes in either 32 or 64-bit flavours, and you can't switch from one to the other without buying a new license.
But if you don't mind any of that, then the OEM is good value, especially if you've got a new system or if you've got an older OS without a fully, um, "kosher" license. The ShoppingSquare deal is alright, there are a few places that are selling it a couple of bucks cheaper online, but probably with higher shipping.
Yeah, as DVDGuy said it's an OEM version. You can read in its description:
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit English 1pk DSP OEI DVD Full Version OEM
isnt fluidtek selling them for $200 the oem version. i dont see why it has to be retail.
Retail includes both 32 and 64 bit versions. Technically the OEM license expires if you change motherboard. The retail version has no such limit. Buying the retail version makes sense if you think you'll use Win7 for a long time (eg I used my XP Pro for over 7 years on probably 5 motherboards in that time).
Does anyone know if this works in store or you have to order online - the 30% pre-order price is great, but doesn't make sense, isn't the full retail box already available in stores?
If I can get the full retail version for $293 at a local store I'll buy that.
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4ae52d4406c72b3…
$187.60 for a Home Premium , is this price good enough or is there any other store selling cheaper than this?
Also, is it possible to price match the online price with the local DSE store?
Less 5% at Officeworks?
