DGTEC DIY Car Reversing Camera Kit $19 Clearance @ K-Mart Mt. Ommaney QLD (Maybe Others)

110

This is a duplicate of this previous yet expired deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/177332

Saw them as I was rushing to the Hardware Dept to check out the tool sets & storage (which they had none of!) and thought it was worthy of posting again as they're obviously still around.

Please read the comments in the previous deal as these may not be good enough for many but may be for some. Might even be useful for non-car applications running off a 12V PlugPack and possibly even remove the screen from the mirror assembly to use it another way. Security, Robotics, seeing around corners or DIY digital periscope perhaps?!

After reading all the Kmart posts, it feels like they are having a closing down sale.

Attempting to pay for stuff at those self-serve checkouts, getting frustrated with how poorly they've been implemented & operate, storming out half-way through in disgust leaving all goods & trolley at the register I get the feeling they WANT to close down… and I just discovered tonight that there are NO manned checkouts left at K-Mart Mt. Ommaney at all! First time I've been to a bricks & mortar shop in many months (as I buy most of my stuff online) and I think it'll be my last! Why bother? I can buy my cable ties elsewhere ;)

Did you look in the middle of the store? That's where they hide the manned checkouts in most now, for reasons unlikely to become clear. Oh and these are $19 at Helensvale as well :)

Yeah, I did see an odd cluster of more self-serve and other strange counters in the middle of the store however there was no-one there so I assumed it was just put there temporarily while they rearranged the store. Shockingly bad layout if this is what they're all going to be like from now on! I'd been to another store only minutes earlier and it wasn't like that.

Optical scanning is where it all falls apart and I don't understand why they can't see that. Plastic trolleys with NFC tech on each product is really the only way forward with a self-serve model IMO. Walk up to register and stop at a boom gate with the trolley, register does an NFC scan, you pay with your NFC smart phone, the boom gate rises you're away in seconds!

        • Local kmart went to mid shop checkouts… most stupid layout for a store possible.
Would like to know what reasoning they had behind it apart from pissing customers off to the max.

I reckon they put the registers in the middle so you can't see how long the queue is until you are already in the store.

I bought a few of these reversing mirrors and have installed one in my car and my wife's.

Instructions suck, but easy enough to figure out. Agree with the posts in the other thread though…. The screen isn't the best quality in the world, but very usable. You can change the brightness/contrast/ saturation of the screen which makes a big difference. The drill bit it comes with is terrible. The cables it comes with were long enough of my dual cab Rodeo ute.

  • I think it may be nation wide. Saw it the other day in Kmart Northcote VIC. Didn't bother posting it as I haven't a clue how much it normally suppose to sell for.

    • From memory the original price was $59
Just left over allocated stock for Christmas

  • These are never as good as integrated ones. You don't get the lines.

  • Is this suitable to install on the back of a caravan?

  • No car stuff at all at my local Kmart
