  • Good price, but that 4.7" 800x480 screen would be horrid. Like the pixel density would be worse than what we were used to 5 years ago, because back then, we were having like 4" screens that were 800x480.

I think this is a bit of a conundrum. At this price point, it would be so much better for Nokia to release a smaller phone, even something like a 4" 800x480 screen would be so much more acceptable. But of course, everyone seems to love big screens these days.

    • People who need to use reading glasses won't be able to tell the difference!

Would have been awesome if the cashback is still on though, becuase effectively including cashback this was how much the 735 costed.

  • Personally, I will wait til the Windows 10 announcement tomorrow before taking the jump into WP8.

There have been rumors that Window (Phone) 10 will drop legacy support, like how WP7 was dumped when WP8 was introduced.

    Besides, 150 for a 625 ain't exactly a great price.

https://twitter.com/intent/retweet?tweet_id=5321283144678236… They have already confirmed 'WP10' for all WP8 devices.

      • I would take that with grain of salt. It was from a social media account.

Look at the various clearance/sales for Lumias. Verizon dumping WP almost entirely. Vodafone here dumping a lot of 630 and 735s, both new phones via HN. Similar in the UK as well.

All I am saying is that, wait for the official announcement.

Besides this price aint' that great.

    • They will dump support for WP8, no point in supporting it when all WP8 Lumias will be updated to Windows 10. MS have stated this publicly. Non-Lumias should get it too as there's nothing to stop them technically, but we'll have to see what the OEMs do.

WP7 was not dumped and received an update to 7.8. As has been well explained over and over was the change from the Windows CE kernel to NT that saw older devices not get an upgrade due to outdated hardware, ie a single core processor. The update to the NT kernel was necessary as we will see Microsoft have a common platform across devices and unified apps.

12 Month Manufacturer Warranty. Sounds like non Australian stock otherwise it would be 24 months.

  • I'll just add that I saw a (inferior) Vodafone locked 630 at Big W (Stafford, Qld) this morning for about $105. Sorry, no further details.
