Lavazza 'A Modo Mio' Minu Coffee Machine $49 (Was $99) @ Coles

100

Back on sale again, I picked one up a few weeks back. Look for a free capsules verion, with stickers on the box, then go to http://store.amodomio.com.au/free-capsules/ with the serial number of the machine to claim 2 boxes, total 32 capsules to keep you going. There is no button to select size, I just push the bar back, then stop when the coffee starts to run out, 12 seconds seems to be a good time. I use filtered water in the machine for a clean tasting coffee, better than most cafes!

I prefer the Armonico capsules, available in Coles, around $11 for a 16 pack. If you go to MYER, DJs or TheGoodGuys, you can pick from around 10 different capsules, such as http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lavazza-intensamente-coffee-ca… which is nice and strong. Around xmas, fathers day and mothers day, there may be a lavazza rep giving out free capsules from the different flavours.

Thanks to its compact size, it can fit in anywhere. It is extremely easy to use: rediscover the simplicity of an authentic espresso prepared at home, in just one touch and few seconds, right the way you like it.

Minù features the Stop&Go knob to select the desired quantity of espresso every time, and the small/large cup-support rack, adjustable at two different height settings to prepare both espresso and long coffee.

Minù is also equipped with automatic shutdown function after nine minutes and temperature control functionality.

Thanks for sharing. Wasn't aware of free capsules. Ill try my s/n on my machine which didnt have the sticker on box. Annoying thing is their capsules prices rarely go on sale.

Armonico is my fave too. Bought the orange one and realised that deliziomemte is the same colour! Not as nice as armonico.

    • No worries, let us know hey.

I'm going to try the appassionatamente next, just not available in Coles. A lavazza rep in TGG told me that Armonico is the best selling flavour, so our tastes are confirmed as excellent :-)

      • Divinamente is nice too (purple one) But only available at Myer.

  • sorry, i'm still learning about these types of machines. From what i understood, this one will only work with some special capsule models, or are they all standard? (nespresso, aldi, coles branded, etc ,etc ,etc, or i need a special machine for each capsule type?)

This only works with a modo mio capsules which you can get from coles and some IGA's, as well as places like myer, DJs, goodguys.

Each machine type has different size capsules, amounts of coffee, pressure in the machine, etc. The idea is that you get locked in to buying their pods, unless you buy from someone like https://espressoland.com.au/a-modo-mio-compatible

The expressotria system has a few different compatible pods, lavazza, Gloria jeans, Vitoria… Take a look in the coffee section in Coles to get an idea of which go with which. The ALDI k-fee pods are cheaper I think, I've tried some flavours and I wouldn't buy that system myself.

How is it compare with Nespressso? This one seem cheap.

    • They both make good coffee, it's down to personal taste and how much you want to pay. The pods for this machine are $11 for 16 pods, Nespresso pods are around $10 for 10, well, they used to be.

I like the Armonico flavour pods from lavazza. The machines are unlikely to last more than a couple of years, depending on use. So factor that into your purchase. I wouldn't bother with a built in milk further/heater, to much to clean up. I just zap half a cup of milk in the micro first. :-)

not as cheap as I bought a month ago in Harvey Norman

One nespresso and one milk frother for only $79.

Nespresso you can use the coles brand pod which is only $4 for 10 pod

Actually I already have Nespresso at home and I prefer the Nespresso Pod.

Just wondering this can do better.

        • You can try out the different pods in TGG when they have a fathers/mothers day, New Year promo, etc, from lavazza, nespresso, maybe more. Maybe try them over the upcoming long weekend. Some flavours I like, some not so much, all down to personal taste I guess.

I tried a lavazza blue capsule in a hotel once, it was so good I went back for a second! I've read that those capsules have more coffee in them, an expensive solution for home though.

The are four major capsules being offered in the Australian market.
Nespresso the market leader, Aldi K-Fee capsules, Caffitaly capsules by Map & Woolworths and Lavazza with it’s Lavazza Blue, Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules and Lavazza Espresso Point.
Nespresso has 5.5 grams of coffee in it’s regular capsules and 7 grams in it’s commercial disc capsules. (these are generally not available to the public) Caffitaly ( Map & Woolworths) has 8 grams of coffee in it’s capsule whereas K-Fee capsules have about 7.2 grams of coffee in it’s capsules.
Lavazza has four capsule systems Lavazza Blue, Lavazza A Modo Mio, Lavazza Espresso Point Maxi and Lavazza Espresso Point.
Lavazza BLUE capsules vary in from 8 to 9 grams of coffee per capsule depending on blend but also comes in doubles that really contain 12grams of coffee.
A Modo Mio capsules contain 7.5 grams of coffee.
Espresso Point has 6.2 grams where's Espresso Point Maxi has 8.5 grams for the single and 12 grams for the double.

  • It's been this price for weeks now. Too bad Coles isn't a participating retailer of the Lavazza cashback promotion.

I tried to get DSE to price match Coles and they refused because it was "below cost". It would have been $19 if successful.

    • Hi, just wondering how the $19 can be calculated? It's $49 and if price match and get a refund, shouldn't it be $50 or is there any specific model having $30???

Also isn't the cashback promotion ended?? As what I can see in the link showing: http://store.amodomio.com.au/cashback-how-to-claim/

      PURCHASE MACHINE

Purchase a Premium Milk by Electrolux, Premium by Electrolux, Classic by Electrolux, Favola Easy, Simpla, Minu or Espria coffee machine from any participating retailer nationally between 9:00am AEDST on 1st November 2014 and close of business on 10th January 2015, retaining the original purchase receipt.

      • It was $30 cash back, and Coles have had this price for over a Month now.

    • Nice try with DSE! I saw Coles had this machine back at full price last week, only to go back on promotion again, weird huh?

  • Or buy from officeworks $129 with 144 capsules and free machine

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/ProductDisplay?storeId=10…

    • That's a different machine. I think that one isn't auto. You have to hold down the button and release when you want it to stop.
