OZBARGAIN15

Hi Everyone

Went to my mates house the other day and had a try of this miracle berry, most weird sensation ever. Lemons tasted like orange and salt and vinegar chips tasted like sweet and sour pork.

My mate runs the store at The Totem and stocks these, they are running a promotion where you can get 2 packs for $25.50. They are over $17 each on ebay and $14.95 USD on thinkgeek. http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/ab3f/

Coupon is above and free shipping kicks in on any order over $20. All items will be dispatched within one business day and received within a week of purchase.

Let me know what you have tried these berries with! I've heard some people use it for dieting and to stimulate taste after chemotherapy.

"Synsepalum dulcificum, also known as the "miracle fruit", is a plant with a berry that when eaten, causes sour foods (such as lemons and limes) subsequently consumed to taste sweet. This effect is due to miraculin, which is used commercially as a sugar substitute." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synsepalum_dulcificum

    did not know that!

They actually work quite well. Grab a pile of different fruits and some alcohol for a tasting night with some friends.

Note: They do lose potency as they get older, leaving in a drawer for a year then having one will leave a lemon tasting like a lemon.

  • What does it do?

    It makes alcohol smooth,

    Does it work with VB?

      Does it work with VB?

It must do - it has 'miracle' in the title.

    • Yes, I believe it would work, however the effects dont last that long so you would have to be skolling the beers! We tried it with Guiness (which I hate!) and it ended up tasting like a chocolate milkshake.

  • This is super interesting … any side affects ?

Love those berries. :) Ordered some, cheers.

And yes, it does make Guinness taste like chocolate milkshake lol

    • Oh sweet, it arrived on Tuesday!

What about… the taste of a French kiss…

That should taste pretty magical anyways? However, if the other person tastes sour one of these tablets will turn them sweet. :)

So taking these will make dealing with my ex better!

No doubt, that's if you are still tasting your ex…

@Justing197: She's sour enough that being in the same room changes the taste of air! lol

        • @phluffed: Well in that case you better stock up!

        • @Justing197: does it have expiry date?

        • @ongrudy: It has a best before of Janurary 2016, however you can still use it after that. Its just for best effect you should use it within the year

Got some. Will keep them on the bedside table for….er…experimentation

    • Just remember, from what I've experienced the main effects are with sourness. It slightly numbs chilli, and numbs the burn of alcohol a bit but haven't seen it do much for other flavours. i.e. saltiness.

Years ago I worked in food science, and had some sent to me. I had some, and drank vinegar. It tasted like wine. Not good wine, but wine. Quite an interesting sensation.

          @pamer:

          Thanks, ordered some.

    Is it a dangerous chemical?

Apart from some corn starch to hold it together, it's completely natural!

Thats doesn't answer the question. So is botulism!

  • Ordered some, will make for an interesting house party night!
