The HP 10.1" at OW looked like a hot deal to me too until I tried it out in a couple of stores.
Both had a dim display even though the setting was at max, the audio was way to soft and both seemed a bit slower than I would have expected from a machine with those specs. The Samsung seemed much more responsive and the screen was much clearer. JMO :-) …we got the tab 4, will do a comparison once i receive the slate…
Bought one this morning at TGG Malaga (WA) after price matched.
officeworks had this price for atleast couple of weeks…
Not commenting on the deal as such, but 1280 x 820 on a 10" screen is pretty sparse IMO. I bought the 8" version of this tablet during the Boxing Day Sales, also has a 1280 x 820 resolution. It's acceptable on that size for a <$200 tablet, but I'm not sure how decent the screen will look at 10". Anyway, carry on…

its plenty of screen dpi for most normal purposes
i know people really want ~2,500 x 1,500 but that one is twice the price
to normal people ('non nerds') this tablet is all that they need
I agree. Good enough to watch movies on the train without thinking that "This is blurry" ect..

I realise both are ordinary, looks like Samsung is lighter, higher RAM , but smaller battery no IR and TouchWiz as negs
